Crit Chance

So I have a question. Say I have five percent critical strike chance on spell x. Now when I go to my passive tree I see a skill "Increase critical strike chance by six percent". I grab that thinking, "hey six percent is a lot". After doing so, I see spell x only went up to 5.8. What is the reasoning behind this? Is it a percent of the percent?

Yes, "increased critical strike chance" is a percent of the base critical strike chance for the spell. It also comes in substantially higher quantities than 6%, for precisely this reason.
I have wandered through insanity;
I have walked the spiral out.
Heard its twisted dreamed inanity
In a whisper, in a shout.
In the babbling cacophony
The refrains are all the same:
"[permutations of humanity]
are unworthy of the name!"
Thank you for your response!
