Rules for targetfarming specific and sustaining
You need to "uncomplete" All maps of the same tier and the above tier. This will force all the map drops in those tiers to be the map you are farming. This is very important step, if you want to sustain.
So in order to save your sextants on SSF, you need to plan your completion route carefully

Spoiler

Analyzing the new atlas

Devoto's Devotion farming

It's easy to sustain Pit Map(T8).
Just shape Atoll(T8) and Coral Ruins(T9)

Arena(T9) is easy. Just same Plateau(T10)

Windripper
Also easy to sustain Atoll(T8)
Just shape Pit Map(T8) and Scriptorium(T9)

Rigwald's quill

Lair Map(T11) Very Painfull to farm. Have 2 T12 connected, which means if you use Elder Orb on one of them, you will still have T12 half your T11 drops. I have no idea, whether you will be able to sustain a T11 map with 50% drops and no investment into the map (chisels, sextants etc.).
I would use Elder Orb on T12 Crystal Ore, so you can ping/pong between Caldera and Lair if you want.

The Lion
You can also farm T11 Caldera for this and a bonus is that you are also able to get Kaom's Heart cards. You just need to use Elder Orb on T12 Crystal Ore

Kaom's Heart
You can farm this easily this league. Either Through Caldera (Which also drop The Lion) or through Volcano.
To farm it in Volcano, you need to shape your Arena Map(T9), but this will make it harder to farm your devoto's, unless you already have it.

Orb of Fusing
Hell Yir baby. This is going to be fucking easy to farm this league.
Just run Wharf map(T1) and shape one of the connected T2. I do not think, you need an elder orb on the other adjacent map to sustain, but time will tell.

Sulphite Scarab farming
This is the league where you can deep delve on SSF. Geode have a perfect position at T6, but you need to shape Factory/Villa(T7) and Elder Orb the other. I would use my Elder Orb on one of those map, that you actually like running, since you should use your Sulphite Scarab on these maps.

Flooded mine Have alot of decent cards.
https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Flooded_Mine_Map
And you can easily sustain this by shaping Relic Chamber(T5).
Notable divination card drop: The Wolf(random Rigwald item), Survivalist(alchemy orbs), Glimmer of Hope(Random Gold ring), Fathomless Depths(Lightpoacher) and Buried Treasure(sulphite Scarab)
However, this guy farmed 150 maps and only got 1 The Wolf card: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L98vs_kf250

Harbinger Orbs.
Hard to farm/sustain through Lighthouse Map. Not realy worth, since you need an elder orb to farm it. You need to shape/elder T7 Waste Poo / Chateau.

This is fantastic information, thanks heaps. I've been trying to find a guide on the Atlas (what to shape etc) and only really found basic information around trying to complete all the tiers one at a time..

I'm still not 100% clear, but you've pointed me in the right direction (I think)..
Thank you very much for the guide.

I'm going on my first journey on SSF (lvl 57 right now) and I wanted to try Raider dext to cold, as it will prolly be my main character next trade league. I figured starting the buid now in SSF will teach me all I need to know about the build and brings some freshness and excitment mid-league.

By sheer luck I found your build, and you are doing exactly what I want :D

I have one question regarding the target farming of a few uniques through cards.

They ask time on low level areas, atlas shapping, and most of these items will be replaced at some point. I understand that farming them secures a steady progression. It's going slow to be sure to be able to make the next step.

But can Delve crafting replace that? I never played SSF so that's why I'm asking you. My assumptions come from the fact that I always craft most of my gears (and complete my atlas/run T16 without buying any maps). Of course I buy a few more fossils when my own fossils aren't enough to hit something particularly good, I buy the base sometimes, etc... all short cuts that seems not so important to me right now as I could use a "not so great" base and not reroll with new fossils an ok-ish craft until I found a new base to continue crafting. For example the helmet, Devoto, could be replaced with a delve helm. The Lioneyes bow too I guess.

I don't know how delusional I am. Maybe I won't be able to farm Delve without the items farmed through cards in the first place. So could you give me your opinion on that? Could I just "rush" the atlas how much as I can, and delve to craft my gears?

What are you hoping to craft?

One thing, I was to say is that going for Chin Sol while wanting to do cold SA is not realy worth it. It is maybe better to either try and get hopeshredder or craft a better bow.

Fair question :D

For the helmet a Delve life and minus cold resist
For the bow before trying on shaper base for juicy mods, one can aim for cold delve mod + a delve mod seven link with vicious projectile/faster projectile.

I actually don't know if one could get carried up to red maps with just a bow with, let's say, [flat cold damage + penetrates cold] from delve, one other good mod and a fourth good from the bench, plus 1 or 2 useless affixes.

For the chest, instead of farming Kaoms one could hit something like half of that:

I can't estimate the time competition between cards farming versus delve crafting. The good thing with delve crafting is that if you hit something good, you keep it for a longer time than the uniques from cards, while you are also "wasting" your fossils on not optimal bases. But I think having not optimal base is not a problem at all.

Edit: included time

Keep me updated :)
Remember the cold penetration comes from dex essence now, which is what is used for the high end dex stacking crafted bows.

Damn! I came to get educated on the basis of your knowledge, not to become the experimentalist :D Just joking, I will happily report the results.

May I still use a bit of your time though? I have one more question.

The context:
I didn't get the Lioneye jewel in act 6 after 3 set of cards, and I became too high level for the cards to drop relliably (I discovered your thread and your trick 10 level higher than the zone level unfortunatly). So I kept going towards the atlas with the idea to farm T5 Glacier map for The Lion and T6 Residence map for The Dapper Prodigy. Thanks to Zana mission + Zana quest rewards and 2 cartographer seal, I can do that without any other T5 and T6 completed and the only T4 completed leads to Glacier, and all T1-2-3 completed for some atlas bonus.
I'm just starting now (still have to uncomplete one T6 and one T4 once I get the cartographer sextant), and hope to get cards "quickly" to switch to the Delve strategy we were discussing.

My question:
How often can I expect a the Lion on Glacier? There are many cards that can drop there, and if it asks for 150 Glaciers per set, I believe that I'm better of farming blood aqueduc for Humility and restart a character dedicated to farm The mud flat with tabula.

It's easier to farm in Caldera due to there's 2 queens in that map if u realy want it.

But I know tons of ppl who have farmed 50 sets in mudflapsflapflapflapssss.

The unlucky thing is that the jewel is very rare.

I found someone saying The Lion may take 150 glacier maps per card.. So I looked more onto the drop penalty in act6 and turns out it's only 50%. Since I run much faster and kill much faster than a act6 char I figured let's go. I took my speedy woman to act6 and got a set in 40 min, which granted me the jewel. So bye bye Glacier.

I've started to delve: the beginning is slow: not many Niko missions and basically no fossils behind walls. The craft I could try was from fossils found in blight chest.. Resonators come easily.

I won't be home this weekend so this is on hold, but I foresee that you actually can't delve enough and won't find enough fossils to have an easy time in gear progression (unless you play 20 min per day and then the daily niko is enough). So I'll probably have to mix your strategy into my delve plan for a while.

The good news is that Lioneye's Glare (the bow) can carry you up to the shaper, the bad news is that my idea about delve was completly wrong...

Lioneye's Glare is good enough dps to do shaper easily, but I have low hp (4.6K) and invested a lot in offense with my lvl 94 tree to get this DPS. So it's all about not beeing hit :D (EDIT: 974K Shaper dps PoB tells me)

I have a few questions:

- where to put the Elder orb. I don't care about layout, I want utility. I think Precinc for the exalt cards (need to multimod) and the triple boss (fox sextant). But with your broader look at SSF, what cards are still really usefull end-game?

- I have this in store:
and I'm really wondering if I should keep looking for better combinaison or just roll this one once I have the exalts to multimod. It will be an upgrade over Lioneye but putting 2-3 exalts and 1-2 divines into it sounds a lot. Can you give me your opinion?

- In your guide you advise to chance for Hyrri's Ire, but prolly more than a thousand chance obrs are needed to be spent before reaching the "bad luck" department. I'm chancing but I'll probably try to craft a +crit chance elder body and 6 link it. Do you agree that one should not keep fuses in the expectation of Hirry's Ire?
