We've got this on our list to investigate, many other auras have similar problems.

Just a tip that may or may not help.
When unequipping the gem everything gets reset. Reequipping it removes the bug and lets you able to cast it normally. Each time i had to reset it, succeeded. | |

I use it since yesterday, and never noticed problems with it.
