Maximum number of characters reached. ? ? ?

Guys i have a problem. I just gave a key to a friend and he just downloaded - logged, and he's trying to make a character.... But he keep getting that message, when he tries to name his char. = " Maximum number of characters reached" Please anyone know what we can do ?

Same things happening to me my friend just gave me a key too and it wont let me make a character as well
