[3.6] The Masochist | Herald of Purity Summoner | A nice Boss Killer and decent Mapper | Videos

This is a pure Herald of Purity Summoner, wich means our only DMG comes from these Minions. Because the AI from these Minions isnt the best ive wrote down my thoughts under "Readme First !!!". I highly recommend you to read this before you give this Build a try.

Readme First

After beating Shaper on my Herald of Purity Guardian Summoner, here are my thoughts whats good and bad about these Minion.

Artificial Intelligence:

What i noticed very early while playing with these Minions is that the AI seems to be the worst of all Minions in Wreaclast. Sometimes the Minions run straight in one direction and try to kill an enemy 100m away from you while a Rare is right next to you. So you have to call them to you and hope they recognize it. You will see something similar in my Shaper Video where i died to normal enemys.

And sometimes they just sit next to you and do nothing, looking around while the enemy hordes are hunting you like a chicken.

When it comes to single target like Bosses its no problem and works very good. The minions just throw themself on the target and beat him to death. All fine.

My Suggestion to GGG: So i wonder if there is a priorized target and if not i think the best solution for this problem would be that the Minions always attack the nearest enemy to your Character.

Sustain:

You have two different way to sustain your Minions. Kill enemys by yourself or hitting Rare/Bosses (wich means on Rare/Bosses you have a 100% uptime without any problems).

There is only one big problem imho when it comes to regular mapping and that is, that you need to kill the enemys yourself to (re)summon them. The solution i found for myself was by taking a "Writhing Jar", pop out the worms and kill them to summon the Minions. So far so good, but if you reach a state where you dont have any flask charges and your minions are gone (because they only last for a certain time) you have only three options left:

1.) kill something with a dps skill (but this means you need to scale minion skill AND a dps skill)
2.) go out of map and refill flasks (Writhing Jar) in hideout
3.) find a rare so you can hit to resummon your minions (you will see this in my shaper video where i run from pack to pack looking for a rare minion)

My Suggestion to GGG: Imho this could be better done by giving the minions the ability to resummon themself (or extend their duration) if they kill the enemys OR remove the duration and make them permanent minions after they spawned like spectres.

If you still interested in this build continue to reading, if not run and hide far away from these stupid Minions.

Pro & Contra

Very good Boss killer (single target)
Uber Labyrinth is a joke
Good defenses because your Minion do the job (most of the time) while you are hiding behind them
3 different MTX for your Minions
Minion AI is by far the worst
If you run out of Flask Charges for the "Writhing Jar" you are doomed

Ascendancy

At first we take Radiant Crusade which slightly buff our Sentinels. After that we pick Unwavering Crusade, this gives our Sentinal the Ability to use the "Crusade Slam" (AOE with 6sec CD) and they are Intimidate the enemys (10% more dmg). This note also offers alot of Accuracy for the Sentinels. Now we take our first Defense Mechanic Time of Need which reduced the effect of Curses on us and provides an HUGE life reg bonus every 5 seconds. At last we take our second defebse Ability with Bastion of Hope. This gives us periodically 50% block chance and Stun Immunity.

Bandits

We kill all the Bandits for 2 additonal Skill Points

Gear

Overview

Detailed & Gem Links

As weapon we take a one handed Melee weapon (dont need to be a Wand) with alot of Minion dmg crafted on it. Try to get the "Trigger a Socketed Spell when you Use a Skill" craft on it because this provides us a HUGE QoL Bonus. Without it we need to cast Desecrate and Flesh Offering by ourself.
Another Craft i highly recommend is the Physical Hybrid "#% increased Physical Damage / #% chance to Blind Enemies on hit" wich gives us alot additional defense because we can Blind the enemys with our later following Curse on hit Setup.
If you cant effort a good crafted weapon you can also take "The Scourge" Claw wich gives also good dmg for your Minions.

Gems: Desecrate -> Spell Cascade -> Flesh Offering

Our Body Armour is the "The Coming Calamity" which gives our Herald of Purity to abillity "Mana Reservation of Herald Skills is always 45%". This means you can put as much Support Gems in in without worrying about the Mana reservation. Until you have this Armour just play without "Multistrike" and you are good to go.
Hitting 4 Red 2 Blue can be a bit anoying because its a 144 Int Base. So i recommend to craft White Sockets on it via the Syndicate or use the Crafting Bench.
Crafting Bench

Follow these Steps will be the easiest way to hit 4 Off Colors

1. Craft 3 Sockets
2. Craft 3 Red
3. Craft 4 Sockets (you will get an additional random color socket)
If you hit a red socket go to step 4. If you hit a Blue or Green Socket craft 3 Sockets again the remove the 4th and craft 4 sockets again)
4. Craft 6 Sockets and pray booth are Blue (if not you have to craft 4 Sockets again to remove the last two and craft 6 Sockets again)

Gems: Herald of Purity -> Melee Physical Damage -> Maim -> Multistrike -> Minion Damage -> Minion Speed

Our Shield is the "Victario's Charity". This offers our Minions to generate Frenzy and Power Charges together with the "Necromantic Aegis" Keystone from the Passive Tree. As gems we take our CWDT-Setup. You can decide if you want the "Convocation" linked together with this Setup or not (so you can recall the minions by hand).

Gems: Cast When Damage Tagen -> Immortal Call -> Convocation

The Gloves we prioritize are the "Command of the Pit" (with one Abyss Socket if you prefer using Blood Magic or two if you are fine without Blood Magic). These Gloves gives our Minions alot of Accuracy with a Ghastly Eye Abyss Jewel in it. Here lays also our Movement Setup. I linked it with Blood Magic so we dont unnecessarily drain our mana for it.

Gems: Flame Dash -> Faster Casting -> Blood Magic

Our Helm will be simple one with as much Life as possible and the Resistances you need. If you have an open Suffix craft some Dex on it (if not try to craft the Dex on our Ring/Amulet).
If you dont want find a good Enchantment for it you can also go with a Bone Helmet wich offers "Minions deal (30-40)% increased Damage" as implicit.
Here we have our Curse on hit Setup linked together with Culling Strike which provides us a slightly higher sustain on our Sentinels because they also refresh after we kill an enemy.
You dont necessarily need Ball Lightning, just pick the Spell you like the most and feels the best for you.

Gems: Ball Lightning (or Whatever you prefer) -> Curse on Hit -> Temporal Chains -> Culling Strike

The Boots we take are some Rares again with as much Life as possible together with the Resistances we need and Movement Speed. In it we have a "Holy Relic" which gives our Minions and us alot Life Reg ("at level 20 on the player is about 103 health per second for 4 seconds" according to the Wiki). We also use the Vitality Aura for even more Life reg (and some additional Bonus with the right Watcher's Eye) with an Enlighten Gem (as higher the level as higher the Mana you have left for your other skills). The last Gem Slot is open to you. I prefer a Portal Gem.

Gems: Summon Holy Relic -> Enlighten Support -> Vitality -> XXX

As Belt we take one with as much life as possible and the Resistance you need. A Stygian Vise Belt also offers the opportunity to put in a nice Abyss Jewel

Our first Ring will be the "Essence Worm" with our "Hatred" Gem in it. This gives us alot Mana to spend and opens us to use the "Vitality" aura. Our Second Ring and the Amulet follows the same rules as our Belt (as much life as possible and the res we need).

Now we come to the Jewels we take. Here we have some really nice ones wich provides us alot QoL. In general we take Ghastly Eye Abyss Jewels with +# to maximum Life and Minions deal # to # additional Physical Damage. In addition we can now pick some nice Bonus Affixes. I prefer to have some with Minions have #% chance to Taunt on Hit with Attacks and Minions have #% chance to Blind on Hit with Attacks.
if you could not effort enough dex on your gear you can also go for some jewels with dex on it.
If you want you can take a Watcher's Eye with some nice Bonus for the Vitality Aura. You can go for more Life regeneration and/or life gain on hit.

The most important Flask we need it the "Writhing Jar". This Flask pops out some Worms which we kill immediately to spawn our Sentinels. To start a fight (Map or Boss) just spam the Flask until all Worms are out and then kill them with your previous named Curse on Hit Setup (try to get a flask with a good #% reduced Charges used roll on it so you can frequently use the flask).
The other Flask will be one Life flask with crafted Immunity to Bleeding on it. The other Flasks are open to You, i prefer a Sulphur for additional Life reg with crafted Immunity to Freeze on it, a Quarz Flask so you can walk through enemys and dont get suck (phasing) with crafted Immunity to Curse on it, and at last a Quicksilver Flask for fast Running action.

The Pantheon

Major Pantheon

I prefer the Soul of Arakaali with 5% reduced Damage taken from Damage Over Time. You can upgrade this Soul with some nice additional effects like 30% reduced Effect of Shock & Shock duration and 25% Chaos Resistance against Damage Over Time.

The Soul of Brine King is a good alternative wich provides us 50% reduced Effect of Chill on You if your captured Nassar, Lion of the Seas in the Reef Map.

The Soul of Lunaris gives us up to 8% physical reduction against groups of enemys. The upgrades from this Soul arent realy helpfull at all.

The Soul of Solaris gives us up to 6& physical reduction against single enemys. You can upgrade this Soul with some nice additional effects like Take no Extra Damage from Critical Strikes if you have taken a Critical Strike Recently

Minor Pantheon

I prefer the Soul of Shakari with good Chaos reduction which works very well together with the Major Soul of Arakaali. It provides 5% reduced chaos damage taken & 25% reduced chaos damage over time taken while in a caustic cloud and makes you immune to poison after Capturing Terror of the Infinite Drifts in the Desert Spring Map.

The Soul of Abberath because i like to be Unaffected by Burning Ground.

The Soul of Gruthkul is a good alternative wich provides us up to 5% additional physical dmg reduction.

The Soul of Ralakesh is a good alternative too with 25% chance to avoid Bleeding and 25% reduced Physical Damage over Time Damage taken while moving if you dont use the Death's Door Boots.

The Soul of Ryslatha can help you in the Labyrinth with Life Flasks gain 3 Charges every 3 seconds if you haven't used a Life Flask Recently.

WIP

I highly recommend to use a different Skill to lvl this build until you feel your minions can handle the job. For me i reached this state around Act 7.
