Did you have a glove enchantment "... of Reflection" at that time? That onee creates a clone of you when you get hit (with a few seconds cooldown).

Hmm got no idea since the item in question has been sold but that's probably what happened, though the copy of me literally stayed for a solid 3 minutes.
