Sextant using and elder shaper questions.

Returning player here, most of atlas is becoming clear now.
I think I get it how to move the elder to adjacent map spaces by defeating shaper there. But still some questions. 1 Some shaper influenced maps posses the map boss with that shaper shadow, others don't. Seems 50/50 Is this random or am I missing something? 2 Shaper/elder item drops, they seem very low, is this normal? Not QQ, just asking. I did adjust lootfilter to make em jump out and add some drop noise to make sure I don't miss any more of em. 3 Shaper elder loot, what do do with it? Some have an amazing stat but remain utter crap vendor trash. Same RNG as multi exalted rares? 4 Sextant use, is there any good use to those? The youtube strimers all give guides to sustain T16 sextant blocking mapchaining. However I can only use 2 for now and for 3 times only. Guess that has been nerfed to oblivion. I used some and all it did was add some trivial stats to a map. No rain of exalts or anything fancy in those maps. 5 Can uniques drop elder/shaper mods? 6 I encountered elder once, killed him with 1 death because I had no clue wtf was going on. Is his difficulty based on map level, lets say he hides in a T3 map, is he scaled to T3? Or is he in fixed locations? Only saw him once so far. Okay, thanks in advance! 5. No, unique items cannot have shaped/elder mods.
They can, however, have shaped/elder status and the red/blue dots in the title bar marking them as such, giving them some additional value as collectible items. For example, if you search trade for "Kaom's Heart" > "Shaped: yes", you will find some listings in excess of 30ex as opposed to the regular price of 1ex or less (standard). So if you find a shaped/elder Glorious Plate you might as well chance your luck with a bunch of Chance and Scouring Orbs (shaped/elder items obviously retain their respective status when scoured). The Elder level is defined by the map type in which he spawns... low, mid, and high tiers (hence he is also known as white/yellow/red Elder). The Elder usually has the highest possible level of the respective bracket regardless which map he occupies. Uber Elder only spawns in The Shaper's Realm (T17). The loot is usually cr@p unless you get some very lucky drop. However, certain high level shaped/elder items are very popular crafting bases (jewelry, belts, scepters, top tier body armours, etc). For details refer to 3rd party websites such as poedb or poeaffix. The new vendor recipe deserves mentioning in this context, a complete set of shaped or elder items yields 2 Exalted shards, 4 shards if unidentified (pretty much like the Chaos/Regal recipe). So I just use my 2 sextants and hope for some good roll to increase density or drop?

The maximum possible number of sextants ant any one time is now limited to 4.
Players now start with 1 sextant and they will be granted the use of one additional sextant on completion of each map difficulty group (white/yellow/red). |
