Delve - Areas lit when i havent been there yet

I died while my crawler was just reaching a spot. I returned to checkpoint and went to redo that same delve only it took me to where it should have started and the way was already lit up. I ran down to see if the crawler was there and it wasnt. there was a trail of lights each to a new spot but no crawlers to active the chart.
