Vaal Skill used without giving buff when going through doorways

When I activate my Vaal skill (in my case, Vaal Grace and Vaal Haste in the past) while moving through a doorway, it will consume all of the skills souls without giving the buff.

To replicate it you must click the doorway and use your Vaal Skill VERY shortly after. The timing seems to be very precise but I have done it accidentally multiple times. It also seems to completely cancel the Vaal Skills activation animation.
