as useless as C are i can't work out what people are using Ex for, like anyone crafts anything anymore 130c/ex is far more likely to yield you a good result than actually trying to slam something for a non-shitty mod.

Feels bad as i've not found much ex this league, luckily they are only 50 in HC so not as much of a blow but still.
imo the problem is that the game has become too infested with uniques and no chaos sinks. Each league only a "couple" of builds are OP and any uniques used in this build will see a huge price increase, and for leveling you have dozens of cheap, super powerful uniques which make all content a borefest.

In the earlier years of POE chaos orbs were actually used to craft decent rares as uniques were indeed unique, atm we simply have far too much uniques, which are far too powerful compared to rares (not talking about lulsticks) and literally 0 chaos sinks. Once you have your build uniques there is no point in crafting rares, expect for one hand swords.

imo a lot of it has to do with difficulty and clearspeed. The game in general was much slower back a few years ago and also much more difficult. In the times of kripp the average player struggled to pass merciless and even reach maps, so in general clear speed was a lot slower and so it was also harder to farm currency. Now we have the opposite, you clear maps in 5 mins and the pre map content is a joke, often you wear the same uniques from level 10 - end of kuvita. Like e a goldrim or rings and then go straight into early map uniques.

The problem imo is that the game is too easy and too fast. This is why most items are just obsolete, even most uniques are, they simply have no purpose as the game is just too easy. No one picks up rares when leveling, they could as well be disabled pre 60.
