Tencent has Invested in Grinding Gear Games

God, please, NO!

Onily china game companioes are good at - is making silky ways to fool people and milk them. But games becoming crap in process :(
Relax.

This could have been much, much worse.

It could have been EA.
I'll stop throwing money to you all because of Tencent, the largest gaming company and maybe the shitest company in the world, caring less about gameplay and fun, just bringing shitty P2W MTX to leech players and feed themselves. They will likely change the whole gaming industry as they get stronger. I'm a player from China and enjoy your game for a long time, but now this happened. What a shame!

I suppose we can assume that the game isn't as profitable, regardless of what public perception would have you think. The question though, is were you actively looking for a buyout, or were there already offers being given to the company. Or rather, are you considering selling the company?

I'd say the game is more profitable, and trending upwards. Would make the most sense given the timing of things.
And the original post said "We have been approached by many potential acquirers over the last five years" so there ya go.

That is conjecture. If the game is as profitable, then they wouldn't need to sell to Tencent.

As I said elsewhere:
This makes me think of beta days, when Chris said the MTXs weren't going to be pay to win. Not many believed him, but it's still true to this day.

Both our statements are conjecture, as we don't have the facts :)

But I'm pretty certain that GGG didn't need to let Tencent invest. They decided to for a number of reasons, they didn't actually need to.

League of Legends and Clash of Clans
so does that mean they will start pushing even more aggressive marketing just like the other games they have their hands on?

Very unhappy news.

WTF is this copy paste shit?? Did you check these informations? I checked random three of this list and they have no connection to Tencent. I will not waste more time to check all of them. It's like listing some investors which failed investing in apples stock market and saying don't ever invest in fruits or in pears ... Thats equivalent of what you copy pasted..

If a Chinese player has this to say about Tencent, coupled with my own research, this does not look good bois. Oh well, that new game is getting to Beta stage soon - as PoE becomes commercialised, another young and hungry developer will take its place, then sell their souls too and the cycle continues.
