How far away to I need to be to get exp from monsters that die?

I have vague memories of a ggg member stating it's 2 or 3 screens.

But it was long ago and could be wrong.

There's a reddit thread, someone tested it and according to him he stops getting exp 3.5 screens away.
Consider it approximate, as testing errors happen.

Id like to get a solid answer, and also how far away from monsters does my chaos damage (damage over time) stop working on the monsters?

Instead of continuously bumping, why don't you just test it for yourself? You have an experience bar that has a number that goes up when you kill a monster. So just look at the xp number or take a screeenshot and hit something with your damage over time and run away and see how far away you can get and still have the xp number go up.
