Why doesnt the Shaper fight the guardians?

When you enter a map with an elder guardian, the elder shows up, one shots the shaper's map boss and then creates a portal to the guardian boss room.

Why doesnt the shaper fight the elder guardians the same way?

And for that matter why does the shaper think the best way to fight the elder is to play dungeon master?

because the shaper doesnt care about trash

It wouldn't be fair!

All these thoughts are bad for the faith.

The answer is obvious. Like all things in the world of wraeclast, nothing except rng makes sense

I was under the impression the Shaper is completely Insane, after having his mind torn up by the Elder - hence our quest to collect his memory fragments in a (doomed?) attempt to restore him. He's not behaving in a rational manner.
