Playing PoE without buying is impossible these days

It is clearly not pay to win. People who have paid a lot aren't winning. People who have paid little are. There is no "win" associated with the ability to pay.

It's arguably pay to play. To make it through mapping, it would be quite the challenge. You could do it if you knew the game well. You couldn't keep all the stuff we do, but you could do it. A new player without the knowledge of what to keep and what to toss wouldn't. They get people to pay, but in a very ethical way. You pay if you want to. You can always quit without ever spending a penny.

It's a free game, if you enjoy it and want the game to continue. That is why you can purchase extra in game content. It's like $20 for a stash, that is the only thing you "NEED" to buy.

Also the multiple $60 expansions.

You don't need additional payments past the retail price to play, though. PoE does.

No it doesn't.
It's really more than $20... but less than $40.

The map tab and the currency tabs are almost must-haves for anyone doing mapping to any degree. Just too useful. They should put a package together... map+currency+n-premiums for $20... one time offer.

For a free-to-play game, yes.

Plus, it's not just $20.00.

This is just ignorant.

The game is free to play BECAUSE they charge you for these kind of things. Free to play is a business model, not a charity. Kids nowadays, whenever they hear "F2P" they demand to get access to everything they would get access to if the game as pay to play.

Get your head into the game. Read up a little.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
New game. $60
+ $30-$60 for expansions.
_________
$90-120

Poe. $0.00.
+ $20-$40 for luxury tabs.
_________
$20-$40.

Or about 30 mcdoubles for you millennials.

Any plan that makes money is brilliant to some.

any plan that doesnt make money doesnt result in a game that exists.

amazing that the cold hard fact of that escapes you. Its either this, they charge you what you pay for the tabs up front before youve even tried the game out or the game doesnt exist.

welcome to the real world.

fking hell m8s, its hardly star citizen asking you for $3k for a spaceship in a game that doesnt even exist and shows no sign of existing this side of 2020. You get to play 10 acts and grind some endgame completely free and if you love the game and want to feel comfortably functional beyond that in a "I live in this game as a big time hobby" sense you need to pay what you would pay for any other decent game...

think of it as an investment into the future of the game. :)

It's not that they're not doing anything about it. It's a part of their business plan.

And their business plan is terrible and is allowed to be criticized

that ridiculous they are making a great deal of money on this plan
