I know what you mean with regards to the lighting. A good way to incorporate softer lighting is by placing the lamps inside the rocks. You don't get to actually see the lamps, but you do get a soft yellow light emitting from it.

It also works to illuminate the walls of your hideout because there is a lot of detailing done, but harder to see because of the light.

Even so, I think you have done a good job!
update for delve league
- added a downloadlink for the hideout
- reworked the hideout with more smaller details and some rearrangements (now total decorations: 709, before i hitted the 750 limit with less details >_<)
- increased fps around the portal
- waypoint changes (yay now blue light anymore)
- new masters positions (even if jun cant open her portal at any places and i dont know why.. but i have the same in sewer etc and i have to open it in a map or change hideout)

only jun have the problem for me. have tried it again in a fully empty enlighten/elreon and i get the same message, so i cant figure out why.. i guess its more a bug, than an intended thing that some "spaces" dont count as big enough, even if they would be. same thing i got in maps.. huge open area and she say "nope". i mean alva + map device can open in the same position, but not jun, so i gave up now.

i mean... if somebody could figure out why alva can open but not jun, even if they are stay in the same excact position and there portals are at the same positions. if you open on different positions and then move on top of each other you can see, that even the portal size seems the same)

on top:
i tried with a friend.. he move her on a position where she can open it in enlighten tileset, if i move mine to the same position i cant...i dont understand it :D

i would very happy if someone could explain this to me, but i think its more random than anything else

Update (because i dont wanna do it mid-league in synth :D)

i changed the theme a little bit, so it have now a mainpath which connects map room and temple instead of a big place.
the waypoint is now like a water/energy-source in denser forest area

- Redone Lightning and replaced torches with lanterns for more fps, because of significantly less smoke and i bigger variance of colors
- fixed some places where decoration-objects got removed with a patch (still dont know why this happened.. but it was broken in the .hideout file too, after this..)
- Added alot of smaller details here and there, because time passed and people live there and of course nature grows too :P
