A few questions on The Hungry Loop.

1. Is The Hungry Loop an Abyss only drop? I ask this one because I am not sure if it is or not.
2. Is this ring included in the normal drop tables or does it have only a few places where it can be found? 3. Since my search fu is weak. How do I go about finding build guides so I can learn how to use this ring in any build that I would want to make? I ask this because I am not sure just how this ring is used in builds. I don't know about guides but it seems to me people are using it for summoner builds. I've thought about using it for a spell totem but I don't like the idea of having 0% quality on all of the supports.

The ring is probably not as good as it appears.
Sure, you get an additional 5-link. But consider: How many builds really need that many links? You have your main skill in your chest or weapon, a support skill in the other if needed. Do you really need anything else with four supports? Are the sockets in your gloves, boots, and helmet not enough for all the support skills you need? You are losing an entire ring slot for it, since Hungry Loop has no other modifiers. You're losing a bunch of life, resistances, or damage to your main skill to be able to use some other skill. You need to actually feed the gems to it, which can be a long process. Unless you can buy gems close to level 20 (difficult to find, expensive) or a pre-made Hungry Loop (even more expensive). You can't reasonably use it for leveling due to the level requirement. Honestly I haven't yet seen a convincing argument to use the Hungry Loop over a decent rare for any build. (With one possible exception being zoo summoners.) |

I considered feeding it with some luxury utility, like:
Vengeance +PCoC +ECoMS +blind +increased crit ...since gems like these keep leveling up in my gear, and I don't really care about their level or quality. A setup like this would be "nice to have", but I wouldn't want to waste normal sockets for it. It can be good for a support setup in a build that uses Kaom's Heart and Kaom's Roots.
