[3.1] The Shadow Hunter | 1m+ Shaper DPS | Life | Not Budget.

Hello and welcome, this is my first guide. But as I have had lots of fun crafting this character I decided to write a guide. This guide, like my character should be considered a work in progress. It kind of goes without saying that this is not a budget character, at the time of posting the abyssal uniques would cost around 18 ex.

TLDR POB:
Spoiler

If you don't wan't a guide but would rather simply load a char in PoB and run with it, then here you are:

Why Scion?
Spoiler
The build works as Ascendant, Pathfinder, Raider, Deadeye, or Assassin (and likely others),
I wanted to try something different so I went Scion, Assassin-Raider so that I would get +1.5%
base crit and auto frenzy charges on bosses.

If you would rather play Raider/Deadeye:

If you would rather play Assassin:

The Tree and Passives:
Spoiler

Bandits? Alira free allres, you can kill all for 2 passives.

Currently at L93:
https://pastebin.com/1qpgrrLL

L90, more or less full build.
https://pastebin.com/1Gft4MHw

L66, pre uber-lab
https://pastebin.com/39nMJD5r

Before L66 allocate points according to your needs.
Ff you feel squishy go into more life nodes, want to kill stuff faster go into more damage nodes.

The main idea is to take crit nodes, projectile damage, life, evasion, and some elemental penetration with the number of abyss jewels this build runs (~10), jewel sockets are also important.

Leveling:
Spoiler

Low levels: (Acts 1-5)
It's probably easiest to level as a melee build, or a caster build, however I am going to assume you are playing bows because you want to play bows, and thus will be leveling with them,
at low levels try to get your hands on a Quill Rain, Death's Harp or Silverbranch, this will help you start out. If you can get it a Tabula is great as well.

Mid levels: (Acts 6-10)
Try to get either a high phys bow, or a Death's Opus, balance your damage passives and life, an Ashrend also provides nice damage if you can get it 5-linked and want an alternative to a tabula (or 4linked it makes a great league starter).

Higher levels (L66-Mapping)
Put on your Lioneye's Glare, you can use Starkonja's Hood, Belly of the Beast or any rare eva/life chest, and Maligaro's as temporary replacements for the abyssal items. At this point it is important to start stacking life and grab some good jewels, they'll be a huge dps boost. Play safe remember Lioneye's Glare has "Far Shot" meaning you do 30% MORE damage at range, so do not run around point-blanking things. Playing safe is the key to living as this build is balanced around ~5k hp.

Gear:
Spoiler

Weapon:
Spoiler

Alternatively you can use this for farming:

Abyssal Uniques:
Spoiler
While bows are fully viable without abyssal items, the idea behind this build is to utilize abyssal gems and thus abyssal items so the following can also be considered "Core" or essential.

Ideally you want a +2 Tornado Shot or +1 Barrage projectiles enchant on the Lightpoacher but this will be expensive (~30 exa currently)

Other helpful Uniques:
Spoiler

Great damage, a +1 arrow version would be ideal, a +2 arrow shaped quiver can be considered "BiS"
look for Crit Multi, Attack Speed, Added phys as Cold, Life etc. A +1 Arrow Signal Fire is currently ~16 exa.

and this jewel to facilitate taking the "Soul Raker" nodes, this saves you a lot of passive points by building leech into damage node

Rare Gear:
Spoiler

I used boots to cap my resists, the ideal boot enchant is +10% elemental penetration.
Stygian Vise is important for the added abyssal socket, for rings dual opals work, although steel and diamond are not bad some stats to look for are elemental damage, flat ele damage, flat phys damage, life and resists, attack speed is also pretty decent.

On an amulet you want Crit multi, elemental damage with attack skills, flat physical or elemental damage, physical damage as extra elemental damage, elemental damage as extra chaos damage, life, crit chance or attack speed.

Abyss Jewels:
Spoiler

IMPORTANT: The Murderous Eye Jewel goes in your Tombfist.

Stats to look for: High elemental damage rolls > high life > Crit multi or attack speed > physical damage > low life rolls, crit chance, damage against abyssal monsters, damage or crit multi if you've killed recently.

If you plan to do a lot of farming and not a lot of end game, damage or crit multi when you've killed is far more important.

Flasks:
Spoiler

Dying Sun, Diamond Flask, and Atziri's Promise are all important, you can run Taste of Hate for bossing over the quicksilver, ALWAYS make sure you have an anti-bleed flask.

Gems and links:
Spoiler

Barrage - Elemental Damage with Attacks - Elemental Focus - Slower Projectiles - Greater Multiple Projectiles (Replace this with Increased Crit Strikes/Crit Dmg with higher proj numbers)

Tornado Shot
- Elemental Focus - Elemental Damage with Attacks - Greater Multiple Projectiles - Pierce - Increased Critical Damage/Increased Crit Strikes (or Slower Projectiles, depending on gear)

Wrath
Vaal Haste
Herald of Ice - Curse on Hit - Projectile Weakness or Assassin's Mark (Non Ascendant)

Thanks for reading, I realize that this guide is a first attempt and therefore likely lacking key information so any suggestions are welcome. I will be updating this guide as time goes on at least for as long as I am playing this, or a similar character.
