Facebreaker and support gem question

Im using a Tabula right now and FB Mitts. It's early levels but was just curious:
Added Fire support gem works, np, among others (infernal blow and shield charge for now) But Chance to Bleed gem as far as i can see with effects and hp drop off is not working. Is that a gem that just wont work with the mitts? Thanks! the gem specifically states that the phys damage will be added only to weapons. you are not using any weapon.. bleed chance and bleed damage should apply but I doubt it is very useful
