Best ascendancy for a Wild Strike build?
I'm bored with PoE and finally want to make a WS build because it reminds me on my beloved Phönix-Assassin/DT-Kicksin from D2 (charge builds when?)❤.
I play Softcore Ladder. So far I've checked builds for: - Raider: focused on elemental damage, high attack speed, frenzy charges, status immunity - Slayer: Leech, leech, leech, culling, lower aps but high defense - Berserker: Leech + Damage + savage hit insta heal - Inquis: Crit focused for ignored resistance - Ass: Crit focused for status ailments - Scion: Grand Spectrum jewel build (10-11 sockets) But is one (definitely) better than the others? Budget is around ~100c, I thought about 2x Dreamfeather/QotF or 2x Scourge? And please don't answer with "play for fun, you don't need optimizing!!!". Crit is hard to do on a budget. The only way you're likely to get any half-decent crit for a hundred chaos is with Assassin, which is problematic defensively. Especially for a namelocky melee skill with crappy reach
Inquisitor is actually very strong without crit. Everyone thinks of it as being exclusively "THE ELE CRIT CLASS AND NOTHING ELSE", but Sanctify/Pious Path offer a large number of strong bonuses as well. Elemental status immunity, attack speed, extra damage, and life/mana/ES regen while on Consecrated Ground, which the character spreads everywhere. Been running a non-crit Inquisitor in Abyss so far with Pious Path, Instruments of Virtue, and Augury of Penitence; it's surprisingly powerful and provides excellent defense and sustain on much less of a budget than trying for left-side Critquisitor. I would consider Inquisitor or Slayer for the most part, since Wild Strike needs to be up in folks' grills and the massive pack density you see in War for the Atlas maps can overwhelm characters without very strong sustain and mitigation if they constantly jump into the middle of huge packs of critters. Berserker's Cloaked in Savagery bullshit has been severely hindered in the face of Vaal Pact's justified nerf; Warbringer is still excellent sustain that people consistently forget, but I don't know as Berserker is a fantastic choice for namelocky skillspam regardless. Depending on your priorities, you might even consider Jugglenutz. The Jugg's Endurance charge mastery took some nasty hits, but it's still one of the strongest defensive classes in the game and could potentially prop up a dodgy skill like Wild Strike. She/Her

You might also consider Pathfinder or Elementalist.

Slayer all the way !
i've made this build for wild strike in 3.1 and it has been very strong both offensively and defensively. i reach 1.83 million DPS buffed and 7.2K life with the best leech ascendency in the game. clear speed is comparable to a good sunder build. swap ruthless for ancestral call for general clearing. here is the pastebin if you are interested : https://pastebin.com/GtbZyZmP if you can't manage to build up enought currency for a disfavor, just go for kongor's undying rage and mace passives instead of axe, the DPS difference is about 25% and the clear speed is a little lower but you'll still kill the shaper easily and clear with ease. |

I stumbled into using Wild Strike on my first hardcore character that made it past A4. Man, I loved that character. Unfortunately, I ran into Quetzerxi without noticing. Ripped myself so fast on his lightning projectiles on hit.
Wild strike was awesome though! I was assassin. |
