People take this game way to seriously...

My experience is much the same. Only 5% are unpleasant, but *WOW* do I remember those 5%. Not the guy who responded quickly to my trade request, and said a polite "Thanks!" after the trade was through, but the guy who asked me to wait a moment then put on DND, then half an hour later finally invited me, and cussed me out when I said I had found somebody else to buy from.

It doesn't really take many people to make a sub-community, like a forum or a subreddit, feel completely toxic. Negativity attracts responses.
That's true in my case. IRL I'm usually a fairly happy fellow.
I posted a comment in a thread about trading on the poe subreddit. Simply an idea, about adding a master to hideout who you can assign stash tabs to, or who manages your stash in general. Basically a shop, if someones wants to buy an item you've posted for sale they can talk to the master in your hideout b/o the item, if they want to haggle they can still wisp you and you can adjust the price later, this way you dont need to leave maps, and still have player interaction. down voted into oblivion. It was just an idea. really, the poe subreddit is toxic. I dont even mind the downvotes but no one actually told me why? why not? whats wrong with that idea?

I can imagine, it makes huge difference, if you play in group with others or solo. While I am playing the game solo, I give a ... on what others think to have to tell me about my game or build. In the end it only has to make fun for me and if I will need longer for a map than others, who cares than me. If the telling gives me a hint or tells me how I can get better by using the advise, I can decide to take it or not.
But, if I want to play in a big group and pushing the limits, I have to play Meta or have to be useful. Noone likes to carry others, as long it is not a friend who asked for help.
I can remember things like oh you are playing the new mega op op build whispering ice SRS instead of using the staff only with supp gems in it, what would surely make a lot more dmg. Yes I did, because in this moment I had huge fun with it playing my style. And most important I am solo playing.
The question is do they take it to serious? Some do, some troll and some just want to sound mega wise. And sometimes, it is just a joke, not more.
Alright, someone alerted me to this thread. I was the guy who made the build in question. You can find it here.

Honestly it wasn't that big of a deal as it has been made out, and I'm really not that bothered. Most people liked it and some people didn't, which is the same for many things in life. I don't want this to escalate into something it really isn't, because a large portion of the reddit community is still relatively nice from my experience. Thanks for understanding.

@OP: i get in flames quite often against the guys you described because I want to abuse my rights to post as anyone does.

The real answer is: people is shit (like that slipknot album, which was people = shit), my own conclusion is that yes, reddit is pretty much terrible, and the hirony is that the majority of guys posting negative comments and downvoting about everything are the real noobs who only care about the "meme" factor and a lot of bullshit that explains their poorness, needless to say that they will probably give any advice in the range of of helpfulness of 0 to -1. It may sound rude but it is the real conclusion.

I came here to post something similar to what you said (different context and i will do it). glad to find one of the first topics that is about the same issues
Gives streamers & friends queue priority and leaves supporters who spent hundreds $ packs in the 100k queue.

GGG: Don't you guys follow streamers?

People take everything way too seriously. Lighten up. You'll live longer, and enjoy your stay more.

Yeah, we belong to the last century. Millennium, even.
