3 scary things that exist now you probably didn't know about.

1. Flesh eating military robots.

2. DNA modifying computers.

3. Quantum computers with AI (and other abilities).

DNA computers are not machines that modify Your genetic code. It is an idea that DNA molecues can be used in functioning biological transistors, and so far noone made a working computer using that idea.

As to quantum computing, there are supposed to be a few devices working, but not a working AI. Also, what researchers call AI is not what hollywoo shows as one, they are not "thinking machines" just complicated analytical algorythms, they are not sentient and self evolving machines.

As to "killer robots", i don't think any army deploys anything other than drones, and those are human controled, and that just puts pilots out of danger.

What's even more scary is that apparently AI is a ''function'' .... O.o
The things you learn...on the internet, lol.

Several years back, this was big news. The EATeR robots were being built by a company in Phoenix AZ, which was either bought up by, or already a subsidiary of Boston Robotics. Google owned Boston Robotics at the time and was taking a lot of negative press. The company claimed they were never making them, and that they wouldn't actually be able to eat humans - the story was these robots would just graze on existing organic material. They were almost certainly designed to eat their kills. There was a lot of divestiture and suddenly nobody was making anything anymore - which to me means it is now a 'dark' project - whether under a government umbrella or an umbrella corporation deal.

2. DNA modifying computers.

There wasn't much worry about this one, until summer of last year when the CRISPR gene altering method was discovered, which makes it super easy to insert DNA between species, or artificial DNA. Should GGG wish to, they could probably fund an Ostrich/Rhino hybrid - or if they can extract enough Moa DNA, a Moa/Rhino hybrid - to try and make a real life Rhoa. It probably won't survive though, and just might end up as a Horror Reef miscarriage.

That is the real concern with CRISPr - it is so easy, that a lot of attempts to "improve" things will be made, without a lot of study of what could go wrong.

The quantum computers are still a long ways off, but when they finally get them, computers will move from playing chess, Go, and Jeopardy, to playing PoE. No word yet whether Quantum Computers will complain about nerfs as much as the human players do.

The robots that eat people aren't the scariest thought though - imagine cats with opposable thumbs!

Richie pls
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

A computer being quantum wouldnt make it any better at playing poe. There is a lot of misunderstanding about what quantum computers actually do.
