Most "foods" are dangerous.

OP is a treasure trove of ignorance, although I do agree with the conclusion that lucky charms is probably not the healthiest food option. Like all things it's the dose that makes the poison. Trisodium phosphate (TSP) is probably used to regulate the acidity of the product while it's being prepared or as an emulsifier. I don't recommend even the OP to eat that cleaner directly, but the amount used in (processed) foods is not harmful. If you want a reason that lucky charms are bad look at the nutrition information. The only macro nutrient that is present to an appreciable extent is sugar (carbohydrates).
Yeah, people believe crazy things because they no longer make them take chemistry in school.

I just learned about this:

"
Dihydrogen monoxide:
is also known as hydroxyl acid, and is the major component of acid rain.[/*]
  • contributes to the "greenhouse effect".
  • may cause severe burns.
  • contributes to the erosion of our natural landscape.
  • accelerates corrosion and rusting of many metals.
  • may cause electrical failures and decreased effectiveness of automobile brakes.
  • has been found in excised tumors of terminal cancer patients.

Despite the danger, dihydrogen monoxide is often used:
  • as an industrial solvent and coolant.
  • in nuclear power plants.
  • in the production of styrofoam.
  • as a fire retardant.
  • in many forms of cruel animal research.
  • in the distribution of pesticides. Even after washing, produce remains contaminated by this chemical.
  • as an additive in certain "junk-foods" and other food products.
rawr. fear me.

Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is the fuel our body runs on, and we already know what sodium does to the body. I haven't seen anything indicating that the amount of TSP was problematic. The phosphoric acid in soda is more of a concern, especially when combined with caffeine as it is known to leach a noticeable amount of calcium from a person's bones.
