Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game.

Glad I'm not the only one! ^^ I really love those "completely forgot about this newbieshit"-deaths. ;o)

Actually It's not disabled. Life Reservation specifically is disabled because it used to not be and you could reserve 49% of your life and still have it with CI due to rounding.

And even then it's technically not disabled, you just can't reserve an amount of life equal to your total.

No, that wasn't ever the case, it just used to cause the same situation in OP's video.

ITS IN YOUR FACKING HIDEOUT
So? you could probably die in HO because of Writhing Jar too, should we delete that unique because OMGSORAGEMUCHANGER?

NO YOU DISABLE DYING IN YOUR HIDEOUT LIKE A RESPONSIBLE GAME DEVELOPER... FFS. ITS BAD AND LAZY GAME DESIGN NOTHING MORE. OMG LOOK HOW HC AND CHALLENGING THIS GAME IS THAT YOU CAN DIE IN A HIDEOUT... WOW

#facepalm

So, player gears up in their hideout, tries a few things and doesn't die. Thinks "I'm all good to go!" Steps out into Wraeclast, hits his flask and is instantly dead.

So what did you solve really?

Dying in Strand because you didn't read what a staunching flask does to CI makes sense. Dying in a facking hideout doesn't. At all. Just like getting one shot to a T7 boss but being able to tank T17 Shaper doesn't. Just like a number of stupid and lazy designs in this game.

So you solve the problem of expectations. What is likely to happen here. The hideout is a sanctuary. It's like town. The expectations for a gamer is to be immortal in those zones. When those expectations fail, then gamers are left puzzled and confused. Doesn't matter why. Doesn't matter that they used a flask. It's just dumb game design anyway you cut it. Defend them all you like.

The issue of dying in hideout, obviously.

And worst change is putting almost all bosses in new version of maps into fucking small areas, where you can't kite well or dodge stuff. What a terrible idiot invented that I want say to him: dude flick you, seriously flick you very much.

Way way back in beta there was a"bug" that allowed you to reserve 100% of life and not die due to a rounding error. This was a long time ago mind you, and IIRC affected CI as well (allowing for some shenanigans). I was being super circuitous in explanation because I wrote that on like 1 hour of sleep in two days.

Gist of my point is that there used to be fun rounding bullshit that let you break things.

That said. If the whole point is you shouldn't be able to kill yourself in your hideout all that would change is when people killed themselves with their caustics. Honestly caustics should just have a "Can't be used with CI tag" and call it good. Or just a red outline when you have one equipped w/ CI. Some kind of visual indicator that hey this might be bad would be nice since you can't tell flasks apart w/o mouseover.
