Chaos inoculation bug

Hey, my char is with bugged or something, cause after i took the chaos inoculation my energy shield is not working, almost every monster kill me in one hit, no matter the monster, and i have 5k of energy shield, this isn't suposed to happen, someone can help me?

I've taken a look at the character and I notice it's using a Caustic Sanctified Mana Flask. This flask doesn't just damage your character; it specifically says that it removes Life when used. No problem - it's an interaction which isn't very intuitive. :)
