Mines and life on hit ?

Hi,

I know that life on hit used on totem will heal the totem and not the player, but what about mines that just have 1 life point and dies as soon as they deliver their damage ?

I wonder if such an item

can trigger life on hit for player when using fire nova mine ?

1) fire nova is a spell and Life on hit works with attacks only
2) on-hit effects are credited to trap/mine even though it doesnt exist any more
