Wild Strike questions

Hi,

I'm planning Wild Strike build atm and I'm not sure if this will work coz we don't have something like "dummy" to check damage for effects that are not shown in the skill tooltip.

Anyway, my question is:

1. If I'll pick nodes with increased Melee Physical damage and use Cold Steel/Fireborn jewels that transform this into Cold/Fire damage, will this converted Melee Physical Damage to Cold/Fire apply to secondary effects too? Or will it only boost the initial hit and stay as Melee Cold/Fire damage instead just physical?

2. If I'll pick let's say Increased Crit Chance/Multi with Maces/Daggers etc, will this also apply to secondary effects or just initial hit?

As of 3.0 there will be no reason for you to use either of those jewels with Wild Strike. They don't affect the damage category dimension, which is made up of Attack, Spell, Damage over Time, and Secondary Damage. Melee Damage is a form of Attack Damage. They only modify the damage type dimension, which is physical, lightning, cold, fire, and chaos. Thus, they can't ever affect the melee part. Furthermore, because "conversion remembers" as I like to say (damage bonuses are allowed to apply to a hit's damage if that damage ever was a damage type at some point), there's no purpose in converting type, other than for Fire double-dipping, which is strongly hinted to be removed in 3.0.

Only the initial hit is Melee; the secondary effects are not Melee.

They will apply to secondary effects. The arc/explosion/wave are all still Attack damage (they aren't provided a flat damage value, so there's no other possible source for their damage but your weapon; thus, you can conclude those effects are dealta "with Weapon")

Thanks for help mate :)
No problem, although I just thought of a way to nitpick myself: If you use Wild Strike with some form of flat elemental damage, such as Oro's Sacrifice or Cospri's Malice (kinda funny that I forgot, since I myself play Oro's Wild Strike), then you do get benefit from Fireborn and/or Cold Steel even after 3.0, because the flat elemental won't ever have been physical.

If you do standard physical DPS scaling though, my original answer stands, in that there's no benefit to converting the nodes from physical to an element :P

Ya this damn skill is so tricky. I've done 2 WS builds in the past but both for daggers more focused on initial hit damage, now I wanted to try something new, but for that I had to dig a bit more information about mechanics.

Was thinking about dual Cospri's with this tree:

As Raider
