Its impossible to buy low tier maps, nobody responds

The wonders of "trade" in this game - spam 20-30 people with request to buy their low tier map for an alch. NOBODY responds, which means its pretty much pointless to try buying anything priced below 1c which leaves your atlas with holes you can hope Zana can fill......if you are lucky.

Thanks for your awesome bartering system, GGG. Its such a wonder how much time we waste on something so flawed in 2017.

Because now people run dried lake instead of low tier maps. They probably don't even pick up any low tier maps unless they want to do the chisel recipe.

I tried to buy a jewel last night, same problem.

I'd like to see the good people of poe.trade add an AFK indicator to their site. I don't care if someone is online if they aren't actually there.

My preferred solution of course would be to have an in game solution. Perhaps GGG could hire a retired Everquest programmer to see how it was done 20+ years ago. No auction house (since GGG and a lot of gamers seem to think that's bad thing) but how about selling from lockers in houses (in POE, in hideouts). A one time optional conversion of stash tabs to lockers, then GGG can start cashing in on trade locker MTX purchases. Maybe that would get their attention?

It's not that they are AFK. It's that they won't bother to take the 30sec to trade for an alch. As the league grows older, the minimum amount for trades goes up as people don't need the currency anymore. Sometimes even 2-3c trades will take forever because no one wants to stop grinding maps non stop.

I do miss the trading from Everquest. But not those AFK shops, the good old EC tunnel days. Where trading a few hundred plats meant you couldn't move anymore due to the weight. Good times, good times.
Something that might help when purchasing common low value items would be putting poe.trade on live search. People who posted 0-30mins ago are much more likely to respond. That or look for posts <1hr.

After I started doing that I only have like 10% afkers.

Shit I cant get people to respond to trades for items that are 30C to 2 Exalts now that I went back to Standard after my Characters on Legacy stalled. Had to message 20 people to get a decent pair of boots.
Thanks, good to know I'm not the only one with this problem.

Don't know about them being too busy farming to respond, I mean if you don't think it's worth it to stop farming for an Orb of Alchemy, why bother listing something with that price?

*shrug* It is the Internet, expecting common sense is asking a lot.. :D
It's to the point where I just start spam messaging down the line instead of waiting for a response from each one. I swear I had to msg 30 people for a fucking offering last night. All online, most new(ish) listings.

About 20% of my messages ever get through with a response. It feels like trading gets worse each new season.

I've asked 5 people so far to trade fusings for chaos orbs. Nobody responded and its not like I offer a small amount, its 200+ orbs but nope, cant trade, cant tell you a damn thing.
