what how is this item overpowered? you loose a 6link forcing you to use a 2H weapon, and limiting your overall gems severely.

Using body armor and shield with t1 life you are 280 base life lower than a kaoms which equates to 840 less life (with 200% from tree) but allows for resists/armor/evasion on body/shield or dual wielding. Ontop of that, a shield + belly of the beast only puts you say ~500 life out from a kaoms (rough estimate, depends on passive tree/gear).

Kaoms is in no way overpowered, it's just BiS for a 2H life based build that can afford to give up 6 sockets, the same as a shavs is BiS for a LL ES build. It's just the best option and is in no way overpowered.
Buffing base life, whether it be from strength or from leveling, is easily the most efficient way to make life better without making the gap between using Kaom's and other chest pieces even larger. Far better than increasing the values of passives, personally I'd agree with a small increase to both. It incentives and rewards builds on the bottom-left side of the tree, which don't often have as much access to ES nodes.

Post Edit: agree with this for the sake of non-legacy Kaom's, though you can't really use a legacy item to justify the current versions viability.

that destroys the existing gear people have, which is a bad thing and they have said they dont want to go down that path for 3.0.
Tbh, life is fairly balanced, the problem is that ONE single item called kaoms.

If there were other items or if GGG increased life from items like people said than it would be fine IMO.

But now CI is the one that needs to be nerfed, along with bosses one shots mechanics.

Buffing life gain from stats would be the best solution so far

Str: from 5 life every 10 str to 8 life every 10 str

Dex: 4 life every 10 dex

Guys calm down they already released a unique that gives you life for dex, shouldn't that be enough? /s

On teh serious part, what I would love to see is some sort of mechanism to gain maxresistances with a keystone for armor/life.

Someone mentioned, it would be cool to have a keystone that makes you armor 75% efficient against physdmg, but then you get like 1% maxres for every 5k armor you have or something like this.

Oh and btw, it is really annoying when you are trying to use some unique items without life, and then you have to sweat blood to squeeze out 6k life out of the character with like 240% inc life and a stretched fking tree, while still trying to get enough dmg to be able to kill stuff.
Its like some of you guys don't know belly of the beast exists. Buffing base life buffs belly of the beast. Which would turn it into a mini Kaom's with 6 sockets, resists and 50% better life flasks. Kaom's is actually not that good now at 500 life. Its not BiS for anyone unless you can't hit around 6k life (the bare minimum to avoid one shot bs) without it. If you can hit 6-7k life without Kaom's belly of the beast is better.

Every single melee build benefits from 2 6 sockets since warchief totem exists and it will more than double your damage.

1 max ress every 10k armor seems a good compromise, its a buff for life build That have an easier time stacking armor without making it to easy to get max ress.

Eva needs a similar thing, every 5k Eva 1% less damage taken.

If you'll care about those things, you may as well just give up and dont care about balance at all.
If something is OP, nerf it. IMMEDIATELY. If something is useless, buff it. NOW, not "in the end of league" or any other crap. Only then you will have balanced game. I remember in past, GGG made changes mid-league, and PoE was much better.
