Is 'Fall of Oriath'/'Legacy Legaue' peak hype?

This is a question/topic I haven't seen on the forums yet, but how good/bad do you think the coupled 3.0.0/Legacy League announcement will be for the game for a hope/expectation aspect in the player base?

I understand why they did it, as 3.0.0 coincides with the XBox launch and LL llows them to get all sorts of data about what people want, but part of me thinks that they may later regret the decision at least in part.

At least to me, even if they were (2 more years down the line) announce 4.0.0 with
- Another 5 acts
- all items can now have enchants
- rares can have up to 8 affixes
- All uniques buffed
- have all the leagues you want all the time
- We have implemented a perfect trade system

aside from most of these being dumb, i don't think I could bring myself to have the same kind of hope and anticipation as I have for the current developments (though perfect trade comes at least somewhat close).

I'm pretty sure the current development will have interest stay stable for quite a while (especially if League stones get added to the core game after LL ends), yet I can't help but feel GGG may have shot themselves in the foot in the much longer run.

hype is in the eye of the hype-holder

Expectations are probably too high as usual anyways, see how things go after people played the new content. Then come the post release patches that nerf the OP stuff and then see QQ threads all over the forum.
Okay, maybe I have to clarify my meaning.
I don't mean the hype about the actual content and the viability of said content within/after the leagues.
I mean it from a general "This is what we are promising" and potential win/loss scenarios.

If most of the stuff in the next two leagues hold up, how hard will it be for GGG to elicit the same reaction from people with whatever comes after, and in the same vein, if the next two leagues have more things that tank than work in the way people hoped/expected, how hard will it be for them to get people to actually trust announcements again.

Basically, all previous announcements always promised incremental improvements or new things, now they almost literally promise the world both forward (3.0.0) and back (LL).
there is no way they can top removing cruel and merciless.

That alone is grounds for hype.

when trying to play devil's advocate, i think for me personally the hype for Lockstep was greater, and it paid off 100%. at the time I mostly played skill-based glass cannons. Nowadays there's no room for glass cannons because of minimum unavoidable damage. lol. but Lockstep is still a godsend. Desync was hell at the time.

FoO takes a close second for me personally when looking at it that way.

I'm mildly hyped... which is saying a lot, because I'm usually the least hyped person on the forums.

Still wary. More and more it seems like they've thrown in the towel on balance and are just doing what ever feels good. I'll wait and see if the game goes the way of so many other "over the top" games.
Desync fix did nothing for me nor are the 6 acts anything to be excited about.

So yes, it is totally subjective and GGG tries their best to appease every crowd.

Making ascendancy points obtainable elsewhere (while also being awarded in lab) easily tops that.

Ah, I was wondering what that feeling niggling in the back of my mind was, you put it succinctly, thanks.
