What is Avorion?
Its a Space Sim with a heavy focus on building your own ship(s) and do mining/farming/trading/fighting.

You are totally free to play as you want. Online and offline.

To show you some of the awesome creations of the community, check the spoilers below. I'm in love with that game and it will carry me until 2.6 kicks in. :D

I thought I'd share this with you, albeit its still in Early Access, but the Dev is prety active.



I'm kinda addicted to the game. I love to build new ships only to find out they suck as hell. And then rebuild them.

Freespace Open isn't exactly the same thing, but it's A) less expensive, B) isn't in Early Access, C) has a ~20 year old community around it which is constantly churning out content you can download for free, and... in general just looks like a better value proposition.

I've never heard of Boxelware and an indie dev showing up on Steam with an Early Access sandbox game that's basically just a tech demo with a price tag is starting to become a meme.

I hope the game is fun, popular and gets finished - but I'm keeping my distance for now.

I honestly didn't knew about Freespace. I might take a look at this.
But I wouldn't doom Avorion perse. It is fun, it is popular and the devs are working hard on it. The dev tries to release every 2 to 4 weeks (or so) an update.
