Put in an auction house with buyout

Just because you are not able to contain your addictions, does not mean that other people should be cut off from possibilities. We are discussing everyone's happiness, not only yours. Everything that is in excess is harmful.

Also the reason why you did play for so long was because of the social aspect, if it was completely singleplayer, I think we both agree that you would not have clocked that many hours.

the whole extent interacting with another player was to say thanks

This sentence holds all the power needed for the economy in this game to work.

AH is not needed.

This has been asked for time and again and the answer is always the same: no, it will never happen. These very same threads have been around on the forums before I started playing PoE - and that was about 7 years ago. Back then even the arguments were the same: easy trading ruins the economy, allows automation, we want players to socialize, feeling of accomplishment...

I am sure some of the people in this thread remember the days before poe.xyz was introduced. You had to religiously follow tradeechat, copy-paste your offers and requests into several dozen chatchannels, scour the forums like some mad archivist for a sweet deal, constantly edit and bump your shop threads - it was actual work to trade! It was absolutely horrible! BUT the economy was fine, more or less.

And to be fair, these days an auction house wouldn´t really change anything. I mean, the current trading functionality is basically the same as the D3-auction house was. Only difference is that you have to alt-tab to the browser. And ofc wait for a reply of the potential seller. I mean, I write the name of the item and/or specify the 3 or 4 stats I need, then copy-paste the message into the game and that´s it. More times than not it is faster than trades were on the actual D3 auction house. There I had to watch the items I was bidding on, update my bids and so on.

My point is that the current system is already so convenient that an auction house would not change that much anyways. And those old arguments, they don´t hold up to the state of the game. There is zero social interaction, zero feeling of accomplishment, a high lvl of automation (just think life-search, not even talking about bots), price fixing, speculation... all the old ideals of trading in PoE have already been betrayed. So what is there possibly left to ruin by implementing an AH?

The one major thing that an AH would solve is people listing things for sale that they have ZERO intention of selling. If it were listed on an AH, then it would be sold when someone wanted to buy it.

At the moment, it's absolutely ludicrous the amount of items that people "bogus list".

Today alone, I've wasted tons of time whispering buyouts on "fixed price" items that no one has even bothered returning whispers on. I actually kept a track of the account names as well as adding them to my ignore list for future reference.

Out of 22 attempted purchases today, only 1 completed successfully, 18/22 were in their hideouts and simply ignored the whisper, 3 were in maps and then proceeded to ignore once they got back to their hideouts.

So go ahead and tell me again that the current system works so well, when 99% of this sample who listed their "fixed price buyout" listings for SALE, refused to sell them. That COULD NOT HAPPEN WITH AN AH.

Frankly, the current system is a shambles and all this bogus nonsense about community and chatting etc etc is total rubbish. How many conversations has anyone ever had with someone whose listing they found on poe.trade. The initial whisper and a "thank you" is not conversation or socialising, FYI.
I loved Path of Exile.
I do not love Path of RNG.
Bloom gives me migraines, the over usage of darkness strains my eyes.
Save our game, remove all of the constant RNG and allow us to turn off Bloom or give us an in game brightness control!

Maybe all these people you are trying to whisper are on your ignore list.
An Auction House wouldn't work because then people will be using real money to buy items.

Look what happened with D3
Look how Awesome my MTX Marauder RF looks
