[2.5] Frosty's Raider Explosive Arrow, 300+ mil/hr XP [Updated][Video]

"
It's still early in the build development, but it's looking promising.

Frosty's Compendium of Builds

Approach
I designed this build for a few reasons. I played EA several seasons ago and I looked into existing builds and nothing really appealed to me. I have had quite a bit of fun and success with it so I wanted to share.

Will I like this build?
- Do you want arousing clear speed? [Link]
- Do you like super fast movement speed?
- Do you dislike meta builds?
- Do you want to face roll maps?

Strengths
- Girthy AoE
- Very fast map clearing
- Few map mod limitations
- Fun to play
- Effective on a 5L
- Tanky

Weaknesses
- Early leveling is a challenge
- End game gearing can be expensive
- Can't play reflect elemental
- No life regen is a hassle

Defensive Mechanics
- CWDT-Immortal call
- High life
- Block and Spell block

General Build Advice
- Stack 5 fuses and let them go
- Pay attention to your ignite, this is the primary single target DPS
- Keep your flasks up (big damage and survivability boost)
- AOE for clear speed, Conc effect for single target

Leveling Advice
Spoiler
I leveled with split shot because I enjoy it. However, spectral throw works and other ranged skills well too.

When to switch to EA?
Spoiler

Using a 5 or 6L early in the build can result in life sustaining problems. I switched from split shot to EA at about level 60. Make sure you have alot of life regen (>8%) and a life leech gem linked with EA

EA Links (Still testing 5L and 6L)
Spoiler

AOE
5L: EA, GMP, Fire Pen, Less Duration, Inc Area (or life leech)
6L: EA, GMP, Fire Pen, Less Duration, Inc Area, life leech (or Slow Proj)

Single Target
5L: EA, Fire Pen, Less Duration, Ignite, Conc Effect
6L: EA, Fire Pen, Less Duration, Ignite, Conc Effect, Slow Projectiles

EA benefits from +skills, so a level 4 empower can substitute in

4L: Blood Rage - Inc Duration - Blink Arrow - Faster Attacks
4L: Curse on Hit - Split Shot - Flammability - Ice Golem
4L: CWDT - Immortal Call - Spell Totem - Scorching Ray

Current Gear
Spoiler

AOE:

Single Target:

"
Some of this gear is top end, and not necessary. However, EA is the type of build that the more currency you sink into it, the more it will benefit. No, Headhunter is not required.

So what is "required"?
Spoiler
Nothing really. But some items make the greatest impact. In order of suspected influence:
1) Quill Rain (>5L) or +3 bow
2) Kaom's Heart (goal is to maximize life, can use a high life rare or Belly of the Beast)
3) Rearguard (+1 corrupted if possible) (goal is to maximize defensive utility, i.e. block)
4) Dying Sun (AOE + additional proj)
5) 4 Stat jewels

For single Target quality on EA and Ignite is very important.

Jewel Mods:
- % life, all res (if needed)
- % damage, fire damage, projectile damage, damage of time, attack speed, attack speed with bows, global crit chance, area damage, accuracy

Going to start leveling this build in the next days.

One Question I already have: What of the gear is is mandatory?
I will post if I have any more question while leveling.

smaller errors in your guide:
-typos: bandits cruel and merciless Kill all
-the passive trees are not hyperlinks

improvement tips for the layout of the guide:
-a spoiler around your current gear
-put bandits / ascendancy into their own spoilers

Made some adjustments based on your feedback, thank you. Let me know if this is helpful.

Looks good to me. :)
I will update you when I switch to EA.

Edit: Hey I have another question about the gear again. Is there any particular base type I should prioritize over another e.g. try to get straight armour pieces or armour / evasion or evasion / ES ?

I'm not really sure it will make too much of a difference either way. If you have already committed to Kaom's Heart (armour based) and Rearguard (armour) I would stick with that theme. You may try a granite flask with 100% armour to see if that helps with mitigation as well.

Hey there!

Really enjoying your build, currently on my character "FShiroTS".

I was just wondering, what are some good ways to scale the damage of the explosion even further?
Have you tested stuff with for example opal rings with a fire damage % explicit roll ? I've been trying to figure out ways to scale it... Everything up to t15 works, but I had to call in someone else to do an abyss map for me.

(I still have jewels to take care of but apart from that, just gear wise, any idea?)

Thanks for sharing this!
Thanks for the guide.

Just a little remark: It would be nice with less acronyms, especially as I am a beginner and having hard time to follow the guide sometimes. Thanks :)
