Introduction

Hello everyone, this is the first time i publish a build on the forums, if i forgot to specify something important, please notify me. I started this character in the second week and the league. Over the last few weeks, i had quite a few people who asked me about my build and i finally motivated myself to write it.
I enjoy making my own builds with new uniques in each league. Sometimes i have troubles to fall asleep because i can't help myself but to think about builds. This time it happened with the Hand of Wisdom and Action claw. I wasn't sure if the added lightning damage was global because even if the wording made it look so, having 200-1200 flat lightning damage with just 1k int didn't look balanced to me hehe. With that much flat damage, i had to find the way to scale it as much as possible and Berserker was the best answer for me. This character carried me to my first 40/40 challenges.

Pros and cons

Pros :
- Very high damage without any double dip
- Starter gear is cheap
- Does not rely on any charges or curses
- Very fast clear speed
- It can do everything in the game
- Destroys Uber Lab (Facetank any Izaro hit, nuke him in 2 seconds in each phase)
- 9k es with cheap gear. 11k+ es with great gear.
- Uses less conversion jewels than Raider
- Does not need Vinktar
- Can do all map mods except elemental reflect and cannot leech

Cons :
- HoWaA became meta so the claws with good rolls, ES gear with int, conversion jewels and astramentis became much more expensive compared to what i paid when i started
- Does not have the juicy shatters from crit
- Relies on Whirling Blades to move everywhere. May not fit to everyone



Passive Tree

My choices of the 30dex nodes and the accu/attack speed nodes are questionable. Maybe they aren't worth it if i manage to get some nice accuracy on gear and then use these points to take more int or scaling on tree.

Why take Unwavering Stance if you take the Berserker's Cannot be stunned if you killed recently?
During regular mapping, you plow throw the monsters like a truck so they have no chance to stun you in the first place. The only situation where you can get stunned is against bosses and usually, you didn't kill anything recently. I mostly took that Berserker node to have 37% increased attack speed unconditonnally.

I recommend taking the Diamond Skin resistance cluster to make gearing easier. I specced out of it because i try to get more res on gear but it costs more.

Recommended gear

If possible, always aim for 40+ int on each piece of gear. For upgrades, look for 50+ int.

Weapons : Hand of Wisdom and Action x2 with high Weapon Elemental Damage and % increased Intelligence

Helmet : Hubris with intelligence and good ES. You don't need a Blade Flurry enchant as they are very very expensive. My current flame golem enchant is juste a placeholder.

Chest : Vaal regalia with int and reasonable ES. Resistances are a bonus. Use The Ethereal div card set to get a 6 link for a reasonable price and then scour/alch to get some int and 500+ ES

Gloves : Two options here. If you have a lot of resistances elssewhere, go for attack speed and/or accuracy. If you are short on resistances, go for resistances and 150+ ES.

Boots : You don't really need movement speed because you use Whirling blades with a high attack speed. Go for high ES, int and resistances

Amulet : Astramentis. Budget option : Rare amulet with 70+ int, they are very cheap and you can add some useful mods like resistances, flat ES, %increased lightning damage.

Rings : Opal rings with int and/or WED and/or Lightning damage. I wrote and/or because it can become extremely expensive very fast. If you can't use Opal rings, go for regular rings with int + WED or Lightning damage.

Belt : Crystal belt with Essence of Spite (50+ int). I didn't use it on my gear because i forgot about it. This essence of expensive now but if you manage to have a few resistances and an open prefix to craft Weapon Elemental Damage, you hit the jackpot.


Gem Setups

The gem setups are very flexible and you are not starving for sockets at all.
Blade Flurry + Weapon Elemental Damage + Faster Attacks + Increased AoE/Conc Effect + Lightning Penetration + Elemental Focus

low level CWDT + Immortal Call + Vortex + Culling Strike (Vortex for the chill and the culling strike was the mvp in many end-game boss fights)

Ancestral Protector + Lightning Golem + Vaal Lightning trap (I use 2 for uber atziri just in case things go wrong)

Vaal Haste + Vaal Discipline + Increased Duration

Whirling Blades + Fortify + Faster Attacks

Aura setups

My main setup is Discipline + Wrath

An other setup is like, especially for physical and fire bosses is Discipline + Arctic Armor + Herald of Thunder

For ele weakness maps i use Discipline + Purity of Elements (These kinds of builds are really short on resistances :( )

For -max maps, i use Discipline + Purity of Lightning so i don't kill myelf to rare reflects


Depending on your aura setups and the amount of Vaal Lightning Trap you have, you have a few free gem slots. You can do whatevery you want with them



My gear

There are a few slots on my gear where i don't have int because i had to make compromises for elemental damage scaling or resistances.


About the crystal belt, i forgot it is possible to use an essence of spite It adds 50+ int and you have a chance to have nice resistances and an open prefix to master-craft Weapon Elemental Damage.


For the last flask, you take one depending on your needs in the area



Leveling

You start by taking the life nodes. Use sunder with a 2handed weapon until level 28 when you can finally use blade flurry and equip two


If you already have a brute force solution, you can go for the jewel slot next to the marauder's endurance charge. That way you will deal a lot of damage very early. Keep going up like in my final tree and use the second brute force solution. At this point you will deal really a lot of damage already. Dont take the marauder and templar accuracy nodes until lategame or if you have accuracy on gear.

At level 68, you equip
. By this time, you will be close to CI and ghost reaver. Switch to CI when you feel you have enough es gear.

Why Berserker over Raider?
I have a strong preference of AoE skills over projectile skills. The top left part of the tree has all the AoE and very nice elemental damage scaling but no leech because the duelist leech is too far away. Berserker has the leech, the usual juicy 40% more damage and 37% attack speed at all times. This variant uses less conversion jewels and they became a bit costly lately.
That said, if you prefer Spectral Throw, you should probably make a Raider.
Blade Flurry is the best AoE skill at this moment. If it didn't exist, i would have used Reave.

Why no Vinktar?
I hate using Vinktar because it is highly unreliable in longer boss fights and we already have leech

Can this build do Uber lab?
Absolutely. I league i did nearly 40 runs, always full key, Izaro was never a threat, even at 9k es. Died 2 times on traps from my own mistake. Tip : Don't forget to take anti-curse flasks for the tri-curse boss room.


Tips and tricks

- If you have some free time, do not buy the claws with high rolls, upgrade it yourself several times. Sell bad rolls with a few chaos of loss, mid rolls with a few chaos of profit, high rolls with dozens of chaos of profit (or keep it for your own usage)
- For your first 6 link Vaal Regalia, use The Ethereal divination card set and scour/alch it until you get a reasonable roll. Don't use chaos orbs directly, it costs more than scour/alch.
- When using Whirling Blades, keep your movement button pressed but don't keep your WB button pressed constantly. That way, if you hit an obstacle with WB, your character will go around it automatically.
- When starting, use a cheap corrupted 6 link with 3blue, 2green, 1 red sockets with reasonable ES
- If you run Uber Atziri with this build, be sure to kill the dual striker as the second one. I bricked 2 runs because i accidently left him as the last one and his temporary reflect was destroying me

Thanks for the build, i'm currently trying it out, but I don't understand why you have Immortal Call? I'm not getting any endurance charges so it doesn't get used.

Immortal call has a base duration of 0.4s and it is still activated without endurance charges. It's useful against large number of smaller damage spikes (like porcupine packs)

Why did you take the two 6% ES nodes when you can get "Written in Blood" for 3% more ES?

Do you really need those 10% fire res near marauder?
you could refund that node and another 6% es to get "Sanctity", thats 10% acc, 10% es, 10 int and 3% ats
OR, get faith and steel (15% ES + 2% from int + 8% resist all)

What jewels you use and where? You only mention a Brute Force Solution but any other jewels at all, and you have a lot of jewel slots

I'm really amused by being a CI marauder, it's kinda mindblown :) thks in advance

That is indeed an error. Since i published the build, i removed these two nodes and the marauder reistances nodes to take Cold Hearted Calculation and Elemental Focus (near assassin) for more dmg :)

I needed the marauder resistances nodes because i was short on resists. But with cheaper gear with less int, you can get more resistances so you may not need them.

I use Brute Force Solution on the jewel slots at the left of marauder and templar. Fertile Mind near Vaal Pact.

On rare jewels, you want
- +int
- x% increased lightning damage*
- x% area damage (can be expensive)
- resistances if needed
Do you think Cloaked in Savagery is a better alternative than Rite of Ruin for Ascendancies? Right does have that 25% attack speed bonus which can be useful for boss fights or downtime in between killing packs of mobs, along with some of the damage mitigation after killing something.

But I think Cloaked may be better in regards to taking as receiving burst damage(savage hit or a hit removing at least 15% of your char's max life) as it gives hefty chunk of damage and attack speed.

There's really no good choice to use between the either of them, not even Warbringer.
