I Just got my first exalted to drop! and i managed to get a nice 6-Link staff in a trade for it. i am very new to this game so i'm not sure how many things work... used a wailing essence of woe on the staff to give it increased spell damage and make it rare, still unsure exactly what i was doing i wanted to bump it up a notch since it was my first 6-Link, Tossed a Vaal Orb on that bitch to make it corrupted and it changed it to 3 gem slots no links. so i vendored it. RIP.

At least i know what a vaal orb is capable of now.

Vaal orbs are pretty rough sometimes. 25% chance to kill the item to rare(yellow) if I recall correctly.

I lost a few good items too. Happens to everyone.

Total lost is 1 exalt + 1 woe essence + 1 vaal orb, it's very recoverable. Next time you will know not to gamble if you can't afford it :P

Make sure to use the wiki if you are not sure on the effect of certain items or currency orbs.

Ah. Yes. At least you learned something! Never vaal an item you can't afford to immediately replace!
