how do you skip cruel?

I think GGG made it that you dont need to do cruel anymore or something and you could skip that dificulity can anyone enlighten me how you do it?

I would be happy with 1 difficulty, just make the acts progressively more difficult.

Are you talking about their plans to drop one difficulty in 3.0? Those will materialize next spring. At the moment the game still has three difficulties and you have to do all of them.
