I've seen joe review plenty of movies - ones that he liked but I didn't and ones that he didn't like but I did - but I've never seen him praise a movie this highly ever before.

Just based off of that and what little I know about the story, I'm quite intrigued and I'm pretty sure I'm going to see this in theaters, now.

What is crazy is that this movie doesn't even cover everything that happened at Hacksaw Ridge. Mel Gibson said he left quite a bit of the story out because people just wouldn't believe it actually happened.

It's quite a moving story, and all true. You can find an oldish documentary on youtube that contains the full story as told by the people who were there, including Desmond Doss. If you care to know more about WWII and "the greatest generation" it's definitely worth a watch.
