Snapshot: Yes or no?

I'm confused on two counts, any help is appreciated, thank you in advance.

1. In the Necronomicon thread here (https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/post-reply/1617098) I read that "snapshotting" is possible and viable,

2. The Guardian's stats will improve, although I believe you need to change zone to cause them to update.

So to make sure I understand (English is not my first language) -- removing support gems once you have summoned a minion will remove those bonuses granted to the minion when you summoned it. If I want all the bonuses, I must keep everything status quo. Right?

Exactly.

That is correct. Probably poor wording choice but I was trying to explain the effects of the minion gem itself(mainly raise spectre and raise zombie) in relation to a socket. The gem itself still has the same mechanics as snapshotting in the past.

You summon the Spectre with the first chest and the RS gem is in the upper left hand side. Go to town and swap to another chest place the RS in the same slot and it will still be summoned. Remove the gem in any place besides town and they will desummon.
