Melee > Range at higher levels and nice gear

When people about melee, they talk about using the actual traditional melee attacks.

If you can spam screen wide attacks constantly then melee vs range discussion is kinda moot. Apparently to make any build viable it either needs to spam the entire screen or cover most of it anyway.

Mirror level wise technical melee has always been "better" then ranged because it scales better with perfect gear. Did everyone forget the most common mirrored items is crit daggers or something?

For the vast majority of people (Everyone else) having mirror level gear is moot in the discussion.

Well, melee is all other skills that nobody use... Just because there is no a single point to use them.
And I recommend you to try many aspects of the game - including seasons and HC, and after that write a new topic how valuable it is.

I'm using Lacerate right now in current HC seasons - What a trolling from GGG to real melee guyz faces... What a shame...

1 out of 3 of your builds is "defined" as melee in game, having the "melee" tag. The one "melee" build your mentioning, has no weapon - and attacks with your shield. And you define the state of melee in this game based on these two spell builds and a shield charger? Eeehm...

This guy kills the minotaur in 3 SECONDS. Now as loath bane owner, on a max DPS build i could push my single target double strike damage with flask to abit over a million in tooltip. Not only i couldn't kill minotaur as fast, but there is NO WAY in hell i could withstand a minotaur hit on a map with vulnerability, min max and extra damage as cold(one of the most difficult combinations in the game). So the guy, not only has higher clear speed, not only much safer game play since he is ranged, but he is even tankier to an comparable high DPS melee builds since he can use Kaoms, AND EVEN can have higher single target kill speed.

So no, melee is not better in any way than ranged. Not in shit gear, not in mirrored gear. Melee has absolutely NOTHING going on for it. It has less survivability, less tankiness, less damage, less less less. The only time that melee was good, it was back in 1.0 and 1.1, where with a (now legacy) BoR and (now legacy) Aegis, you could do the (for the time) hardest content in the game with less than 10 ex gear, and ranged of course was still much better, but far more expensive.

Game needs rework in some places in order to equalize the melee/ranged,it simply has too much going on for perfect balance. You can't see this problem in other ARPG's because their mechanics are nowhere near PoE.

D3 does it.
D2 does it.
Grim dawn does it.
Sacred does it...well kinda,Gladiator was overpowered beyond belief but still(yep melee).

But all of them are simpler than PoE,the problem here won't go away with powercreep which GGG attempts to counter with so much oneshot mechanics,you either end up meta build or go home.

The majority of players that strive to clear the game,go for meta builds,which kill the screen in one hit and bosses in matter of 1-2 sec,(EQ,discharge,BV and so on),what GGG does is put one shot mechanics,and the problems begin for every other non-meta build.

In my opinion,the game needs an expansion that will heavily impact the core mechanics of the skill tree/items/skills etc,so GGG can start "over" with balancing,and never go the powercreep route.
