Because those with money and a desire for 2GB/s transfer speed are going NVM Express, either via PCI Express cards or the new U.2 slot, in which only Intel currently makes the 2.5" U.2 SSDs and only ASUS currently has those ports on their motherboards (ROG models). Otherwise just roll multiple latest gen SATA3 SSDs in RAID 0.

M.2 was a market failure, and only recently caught on in OEMs (eg: pre-built laptops). It was never much of a consumer product, hence the low supply volumes with e-tailers.

Yeah, twice to four times the speed of a single SATA3 SSD, depending upon PCI Express channels and version. It's sweet. But two to four cheap 2.3" SATA 3 SSDs can be cheaper for more space, just add them to a RAID 0. You'd only really need M.2 for a laptop, where your drive bays are rather limited.

Kids theese days - no patience.

Back in the day it was:

*goes and brews some coffee while the program loads from cassette drive*

and then we had to make another while we waited for the program to start.
PoE has a beautiful, rich, detailed world - you can really feel the skill which went into crafting it.
The game mechanics on the other hand leave much room for improvement.
