How To Get Mad Regen?
I've seen builds that have some crazy number... 4k regen. 5k regen.
Okay, and I get they have the passives which add 1-2%. Makes sense. But then I look at their gear, and none of their gear has regen on it. Or maybe once piece. They're not even using Vitality. How in the living hell do people get 5k regen? I don't get it. I have all the passive nodes for regen, gear that adds % and flat bonus and I can barely push 650. That's WITH a Stone Golem. " Regen on gear is useless. You'll get single or double digit numbers. Nothing. Uniques, namely Shavronne's Revelation, can provide 4% regen, which is huge. Springleaf can provide some 6% when on low-life, which is even bigger. Vitality can only provide some 2-3% regen, with some serious aura investment. That means all regen is found in passives or gear. In order to get 5k regen, you would require 10% regen on a 50k hit point build. But the highest I've seen is some 23k. With 23k, you would require roughly 22% regen in total. Assuming you use Shav's ring and Springleaf, that leaves 12% regen in passives. It's all very easy to do. Pump up your hit points.
Marble amulets give 1.2-1.6%. Several ascendencies give life or ES regen. Lots of life regen in the tree. Several uniques give regen. Two Kaom's Way rings plus a tree node plus an chieftain node give 1.5% life regen per endurance charge. Blood Dance boots give .5% per frenzy charge (legacy gives 1% per). Vitality, stone golem, items Natharias mentioned, etc. You can get pretty high regen if you want to.

" This depends highly on how much increased life, or more importantly, how much increased ES you have. If you already have 200% increased, the 0.3% regen is infinitely more valuable.
3000 base Life
200% Increased + 6% Regen = 9000 Life + 540 Regen 205% Increased + 6% Regen = 9150 Life + 549 Regen 200% Increased + 6.3% Regen = 9000 Life + 567 Regen
" With higher values, increased life is more valuable because it increases your hit points. With 9k life, 5% life would give 9 life/s. 0.3% regen would give 27 life/s. With 20% regen, those values would change to 30 l/s with 5% life, and 27 l/s with 0.3% regen. Basically the regen "break point" is 18%. At 18%, a 5% increase in life is equivalent to 0.3% regen.
Okay, thanks guys. Lot of really good info. Thumbs up all around.
I didn't realize regen scales off your maximum hit points. I just kept looking at these builds and wondering where the flat regen is even coming from. I got alot more HP nodes to take I guess :P
" What you might be seeing with the regen is the templar ascendancy mixed with a pair of legacy blood dance boots, a ton of hp, and regen nodes. YOUTUBE - http://www.youtube.com/richardbmiller2

I would suggest checking with those that make the claim of having the 4K or 5K regen. With almost every single regen node on the tree, an amulet that gives an extra 2%, a 1.75% Vitality aura and 8.9K hit points, I only have 1.5K hit points regenerated per second (2000 after applying an extra 2% bonus and Consecrated Ground), so I find a claim of 5K regen dubious.

" ^ This! I guess some people mix up regen and leech, at least for me that is the only explanation for a 5k regen claim if it isn't a brazenly lie. German saying: Schönheit und Funktionalität in Sekundenschnelle zu ruinieren, ist dem wahren Dilettanten keine Herausforderung!
