doubt about video card

hello exiles!

my graphic card is dead unfortunately.
i took my computer to a TI store so they could find me a new GPU with the same power or higher than my current one, without changing any other hardware.

here is my current setup:
Spoiler
AMD Athlon II x3 455
6 GB RAM (i'll get 8 GB soon probably)
NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 1 GB
i have a 450W Power supply
dont remember my motherboard x.x

they suggested to me an AMD Radeon HD 6450 1 GB

my questions are:
- can i run PoE with this 6450?
- what could be a good upgrade to my GTS 250 without changing any other hardware?

sorry for bad english, not my native language :)

This site says that you are getting way, way worse performance out of 6450

http://www.hwcompare.com/10317/geforce-gts-250-1gb-vs-radeon-hd-6450-oem-1gb/

note: this site does not have real benchmark results, but they base their ranking on real numbers.

oh thats sad

well i think i wont get this gpu then

but now i dont know wich one i get
i dont know nothing about video cards

im not looking for an upgrade to any other hardware for now
'cause if i get a new CPU, i'll probably need to change my motherboard and RAM too..
and new hardware means more power comsuption, so i'll probably need a new power supply

im from Brazil, so even an old GPU can be more expensive here
the 6450 is 200,00 R$, so about 61,73 dollars
200,00 BRL is not expensive at all, so i might pay more of course.. like 500,00 R$ (154,33 dollars)

edit:
another GPU that they suggested me is a GTX 750 Ti
but it is quite expensive here.. about 700-800 R$

you can run it on the card but i wouldn't expect to much from it.

The ram on the car is pretty low and will likely be ddr3 not gddr5, tbh you'll probably have to upgrade your power supply, 450 watt isn't quite what is recommended (usualy 500 or more)

I'd stay away from AMD. Go with a nVidia card. Their support is much much better.
I'm running on an AMD 6870 (MSI Hawk with the excellent Twin Frozr III cooler). I wouldn't go any lower than 6800 series on the older AMD hardware. As far as new GPU hardware, nVidia came out with their 1000 series video cards in June starting with the 1080 (top of the line) and 1070. Now we have 1060 and soon 1050 so nVidia is scaling down to meet lower price points so switching over is the thing to do. The new AMD RX480, 470, and 460 are ok but I'd go nVidia as all the AMD video cards have the less efficient more noisy squirrel cage fan cooler. I'm waiting to see what Twin Frozr cooler MSI will put on the AMD RX series cards before making up my mind. You have a dead video card and must buy now so go the nVidia route.

Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

Can you import a video card from another place? Even 30 dollars shipping would be cheaper then the prices you are paying.

I would drop at least 200 dollars on a NVIDIA video card of at least a 600+ series.

Just save more money, if you wait some you'll have a much better experience in general. A 680 gtx can run almost all games up to this year on 1900x1200 on near max settings. Prices will drop during black friday.
