Heyo ive never played PoE!

Never got into this game, heard about it constantly. Giving it a go!
What a good fun/starter build? I've played every game there is, i am no noob in general.
I will catch on fast and will be able to learn more complicated builds, but
That being said, id still like a lazy endgame farmer. But a viable choice to get there.
Scion whitch the shadow dude all look cool, only saying that probably because theyre not
youre average "rogue wizard etc"
But you guys let me know! to this game i am the noob d:

Hello, welcome to PoE!

First thing to point out is that none of the classes are pigeonholed. The skill gem and passive tree systems make them all extremely versatile. For example, Marauder caster builds are pretty common and a very strong build right now is a melee-focused Witch setup. You get the gist.

That said, do you have a preference of actual playstyle? There are plenty of strong beginner-friendly builds, we might as well try to tailor suggestions to what you'd like to play.

Also, don't be afraid to ask a bunch of questions. This game has quite a learning curve. No doubt you will get the hang of it fairly quickly, but the sheer volume of information takes some time to process.

Least amount of buttons + Most amount of damage = Happiest farmer.
I like to jump on them, kill. Proceed. Don't like spending to much time in one place haha
I guess I like to jump on large groups, practically explode, shred them in anyway possible. Then move on to the next group asap. Repeat haha
Welcome. :) Google CoC builds for visual porn.

Harvest is the BEST league EVER. Deterministic crafting ftw.
How will POE2 and POE coexist?
Word of caution. While you may be able to move from pack of mobs to the next with no issues once you get going, many bosses such as malachai have no intention of letting you of taking them down in 1 shot or at similar speed (unless you cheese certain build mechanics). This is likely going to be moreso true when Atlas of Worlds hits since the new bosses video that was shown suggests that map bosses will become more of a "learn their attack mechanics and dodge those telegraphed hits manually OR ELSE!"

But that is what I had hoped PoE returned to more recently because forcing almost all builds to deal with heavy hitting boss mechanics puts builds on a more even playing field as currently fotm builds are leagues better than an average build and the skills that haven't received updates in months or years to make them decent at all pretty much are considered default no gem attacks with prettier animations (namely Elemental Hit as it is this games equivalent of GGG's dog born with three legs and for good measure GGG had another leg and an ear amputated).

That sort of boss fights may not be for you, or maybe they are. You will have to decide. Good luck and have fun.
"It's all clearer now
And I hear her now
And I'm nearer to
The Salvation Code"
That still describes a heck of a lot of builds! Zooming around killing stuff fast is pretty much the goal of the whole game. :D

That said, check out this Earthquake guide. Probably the best combination of jump into pack and murder + good damage/cost ratio + beginner friendly.

Welcome to the game, enjoy your stay!

For fun builds I'd recommend going to either youtube or the forum here, and just search for path of exile builds. When you see a build you like, they usually have a tree and explanation to them, allowing you to make the build.

There's a difference between fast speed and omg wtf speed in path of exile. Look for cast on crit(CoC, will get nerfed next update), shield charge and flicker strike for omg wtf fast builds. Fast speed builds are mostly all other builds you can find. There are also slower but more tanky builds.
Just see what build/skills you like and make something of that.

For leveling, I'd recommend maxing your elemental resists in each difficulty.

Goodluck!

PS: Don't worry about failing characters... we've all had failed characters when trying to learn the game.

Welcome to PoE bro!

Follow a build guide for your first character, and after that I recommend making your own. Building your characters is part of the fun.

I don't have any particular guides to recommend, but I can say I would recommend anything running high life+(mind over matter and/or life leech), rather than evasion or energy shield. Aegis aurora builds are pretty forgiving, if you can afford that shield.
Prejudice is a burden that confuses the past, threatens the future, and renders the present inaccessible.
Welcome in wraeclast, fellow exile!
As for builds you might enjoy... since it is your first time here, you shouldn't worry about being able to farm too much. Usually the first character in poe is kinda crap.
Learning the mechanics and limits of what you can do is really important, since this game is quite different from most other ARPGs.

As for your build, there are LOTS of choices, but since you're new, I'll recommend someething not too expensive:

1. Oro's flicker. Look it up in the build section, I think marauder or shadow. It's quite strong, REALLY fast and eye cancer to the max.
Buttons needed: 1. Your flicker button.

2. Righteous fire. It's a build for either marauder or templar and it is REALLY safe and still deals a lot of damage. However, it only really works once you can equip a certain unique shield, and it takes quite a while to level. Also, depending on how far you want to go, the gear CAN be quite expensive, however, you don't need much to start and can then upgrade later.
Buttons needed: 2. 1 button for righteous fire activation and another button for a movement skill.

3. This one is a bit crazy and my own creation, but I can really recommend it: CoC Molten shell, based around the unique sword "hiltless". It clears pretty fast, has some nice regen and CRAZY leech. Still leveling the character, but it works really good at the moment.
Buttons needed: 3 or 4. 1 for cyclone, your main skill. Another for your single target skill of choice against bosses. And then 1 or 2 to activate some temporal buffs against those same bosses.
If you want more details on the build, feel free to pm me.

One last piece of advice: bookmark poe.trade and the poe wiki. You'll need them both.
Now then, enjoy your stay! I hope I could help at least a little bit.

PS: Button count does not include buttons needed for auras. Also sorry for that wall of text.
I make dumb builds, therefore I am.
