How did you like Beyond Earth on release?

You know, I actually didn't get that one. It seems like more a spinoff than anything.

Civ 5 reskin for sure, I'm a sucker for space themed games though (obviously, look at this thread) and I bought a game with only 1/2 of its features included with that one.

I bought it at it's release and loved it enough. Wasn't the best of it's kind but wasn't bad, I liked some of the features, but still prefer Alpha Centuri.

I always worried about this one tbh, Ive watched it for ages trying to get a sense of what the actual game is, whats the point of it all, why am I motivated to do anything that can be done in the game and I just never saw it. Now that Ive seen what happens when you reach the center, which seemed to be the only overall point to the game I could find... oh dear.

It just seems to take the problem skyrim had and massively multiply it, rather than 1 pretty landscape you have essentially infinite pretty landscapes, and the lack of stuff in that landscape worth sticking around for seems to also have had that "X infinity" treatment. To me it seems like a massive stage that is waiting for someone to place an actual game onto.

For me a game has to get the moment by moment right, arpgs always have some level of loot, character building, all the things, but at the core I feel like what I am playing is like Alien Breed, Guantlet, The Chaos Engine, a top down arcade shooter and if I dont enjoy that moment by moment play then the rest of it doesnt matter. I think despite its problems Ill always enjoy Fallout 4 a lot more than Skyrim because at its core Fallout 4 is a somewhat competent shooter while Skyrims actual combat is still somewhat clunky and unsatisfying. I saw a guy fighting a little crab in no Mans Sky, looked just like the 'mining' going on, and I saw an attempt at space combat... I dont think it even qualifies as a game in all honesty, those elements seemed so bad its almost worse than them not existing at all.
I just struggle to see how truly unique every world could be, given that the entire game is roughly 2.3 gigabytes. That leaves what, 1.5 gigs for assets? If I'm being generous?

PSA: Steam and PSN are honoring refunds even if you have more than 2 hours of play time. At least it worked on Leddit for many people.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

...Wow. Is that common?

It is not, its extremely rare, but in some special cases, much like No Mans Pie, and its billions of negative reviews, i guess steam felt sympathetic towards those who didnt like the game

Also, Steam, you're an ass hat, give me my refund, i could spend those 60 USD on getting other things like, idunno, food, or, food thats healthy.. >_>
