option for mtx on shields / unarmed?

I like playing unarmed but that leaves me with no option for putting weapon mtx on gear. I don't care that my hand glows but would be nice to see shields etc take on the mtx effect.
Granted having a nice extra glow on hand wouldn't hurt either.
