Many people, even reasonable people, think this to be true, despite all the empirical evidence & logical reasoning against it. The US & EU do support certain so called "moderate islamist" groups, politically & monetarily, but not ISIS or al-Qaeda. Some of those "moderate islamist" groups sometimes upgrade their membership and join jihadist radical groups, that's why it's totally retarded to support ANY islamist groups - you never know when they'll turn their coat.
