Okay here is a hint:
A player that only knows the first act cannot solve the riddle.

Maybe it is three different things; like each paragraph is a different think you have to guess.

In that case, the first paragraph could be Massier (the bandit boss of the 'twilighted' strand map.)

The second paragraph could be the player, who needs to repeat the whole game at least twice. As someone who plays path of exile too much, I can see how that could be interpreted as 'paying with my life' as well!

Maybe the third one could be Lioneye? Since he was first to hear Kaom's call, and wasn't prepared to lose. (Also see the 'Lioneye's Fall' jewel.)

I'm not sure how those link together though!

Only thing that "were player" buy also aren't player, are Rogue Exiles. Or maybe someone else?

So, is the answer one of the rogue exiles? Or player character in some sort of "state"?
