rarity cap for grp members?

how can it be that with 2 man grp drops everything yellow or many ,and with 3 man grp nothing yellow or many drops? (same tier and 411 rarity and 35 quantity?)

Could be pure luck, could also be that the new group member was stealing kills from your MFer? There are certainly no game mechanics at play here.
