New Item "Halts Maul"

Hello,

I love creating new content for games and thought I might give you an item idea that floats around my mind for some months now. I know, I didn't buy any pack that would give me the official perk to do so, but maybe my idea hits a sweet spot for the game.

The main idea behind this weapon is just the name, that I wanted to see already in a game since Diablo 2, well there I created a weapon in my mod that I did back in the time but never saw it anywhere for real and official.

The item itself is a maul and funnily "Maul" in german is the name for either animals mouths or as an aggressive way to tell someone to shut up. That get's accomplished when you tell someone to "shut up" or in german "Halt's Maul". So this items name is "Halts Maul". Most of the english speaking playerbase won't get the joke, but it would be a great fun for the german player base, which is very strong in Path of Exile.

Also I had some interesting new feature for this item, a mod that only triggers when the item is corrupted. This will give players a new instrument to play around with.

Hey mate,

So, there is some things that worried me.

First of all, I think the roll plage are too big. Since you can every value, there is, if my maths are right, over 50k possibilities.... It's way too big to get something useful out of it.

Secondly, the corrupted "bonus".... There's where the edit start ^^ So, to get about 200 of every stats since many build use at least one of each color on a 6L, it'll be very difficult to get and will make you lose a lot efficiency on your item and, on top of that, for a random element so you can't really boost it.

EDIT : Exhausted... So... Read wrong...

I really like the idea of a 'when corrupted' bonus. That is cool!!!

Some of the other ideas aren't well thought out enough though. For example - 5% chance to silence enemies around you. When does this happen? On hit? When hit? etc... Also, how long does it last?

I quite like the idea of crazy-roll items as well, but I think that doesn't really suit the flavour of this maul. Keep it simple (eg: 150-200% phys, 10-20% attack speed or something)

Quite sure weapons cannot do negative damage... lol.

- -300% Physical damage would mean it could go below 0 damage. And that is negative damage.
At most, I'd say it should only be able to roll -99%

- Also, you need to work on the wording - Cannot use energy shield? What does it mean? You can go with 100% less energy shield, 100% reduced energy shield, and anything else.

- Same goes for silence thingy - when does it trigger. Silences enemies around you for X on hit - this is how the wording should look like.

- There is no such type of damage as Poison. There are only 5 types of damage - Physical, Fire, Cold, Lightning and Chaos. Poison is Chaos damage.

Just posting to say I like the idea of unique corrupted mods. It's like a vaal version of a unique, and that is very exciting to think about.

About the damage type there actually IS poison and it is stated: Poison is always Chaos damage but Chaos Damage is NOT always poison damage. Poison also applies a DOT on the enemy, chaos does not.

About the -XYZ% I had in mind, that it would deduct modifiers from the tree and equip by that amount. But the -99% idea for the weapon damage is another good idea, too.

For the silence, yeah could have stated "on hit with this weapon", to make clear that e. g. spells can't trigger that mod. But especially for that, it is a suggestion to think about it and make it better, so that the devs might really think about that :)

i like the concept of an item that gets extra mods when corrupted but the item you sugested seem akward.

has way to much randomness and even with a good roll is not that great, may be take the concept a step further say:


150% increased damage
15% increased speed
silence for "x" secs on stunning
gains a random double edge mod when being corrupted


posible random mods

enemys take 2% more damage per tile away from you
20% less damage

adds str*0.5 as fire damage to attacks on stun
30% less attack speed

+2-3 to to gems skill levels on the chest armor
has no sockets
