Loot Filter problem
Hi so a little while ago I ungraded to windows 10 which is the only thing I can think that caused this problem.
I no longer have the option to load a loot filter, the filters are named correctly (.filter) in the correct location and using ANSI encoding yet POE is acting as though their are none available and not giving the option to load one. I'm kind of stuck as to thinking of what else to try, I accidentally set .filter file to automatically be opened with notepad so maybe that has something to do with it? |

Program used to open it doesn't have any affect on how PoE translates it.
Normally, the issue is the actual file extension. Do you have the option in Windows Explorer enabled that SHOWS file extensions? Normally extensions are hidden which causes all sorts of issues... because then you name your filter to "something.filter" and what you actually end up with is "something.filter.txt" because the extension is hidden. It is a huge complaint I have with how Windows handles files and extensions. Being a power user, I always want to see the ACTUAL data. |

Yep I have show file extension on, it shows as neversink's_lootfilter.filter and under type it says it's a filter file. Everything was working fine until I switched to windows 10 I think. Strangely I also had to redo all my in game settings.

In that case the filter is probably not in the right directory. Windows 10 might have changed paths or something. I don't have win 10 so I can't tell you where to move it.

Hmm you may be right, that would explain having to redo all my setting as well. I'll have to look into it, maybe just reinstalling will be quicker.

It should be under your User/Documents folder... which might move with Win10 over whatever else you had... especially if it was older like XP or something.
Between XP and Vista, I believe, they moved user settings/storage from C:\Documents and Settings\username\<stuff> to C:\Users\username\<stuff> They might have done the same thing to Win10. |

I fixed it, Windows 10 decided to be a dick and create a new folder for PoE hidden away on a different drive. Thanks for your help.
