Last time we had this problem was with a specific ISP in Australia that it would occur with. I am also passing this thread on to Thomas, our server engineer.

I'm using comcast here in cali. I've been getting this problem ever since 2 days ago.... I have lost several high level maps because my lag spikes to 1-2 minutes (yes, 1-2 min lag spike) during those instances and ONLY THOSE instances. It doesn't help even if I restart my computer/modem

Exact same problem, exact same ISP/location. Where in Cali? (you can PM me if you don't feel safe posting it). I'm in the bay area, maybe it's our area and others?

I'm also using Comcast as my ISP and also in the San Francisco Bay Area, (Near San Jose to be more specific)

Nearly the exact same location for me (I live in Santa Clara). Although I haven't experienced this problem at all today, maybe Comcast fixed it? Who knows, we'll have to see.

That's kinda funny, I also live in Santa Clara... Near Great America actually lol
I've been having really bad lag spikes the past few weeks, but ONLY when I team up with a friend. As soon as he logs off, I can play with no issues. If he and I group together, then lag spikes can last anywhere from a half a second to 15 or 20 seconds. Even moving items around in my inventory or storage is much slower. Some times it can take 1 or 2 seconds from the time I select an item until it actually picks up.
I also get a fair bit of rubberbanding.

When I'm playing solo, there are none of these issues.

My friend and I are on the same ISP, although we live in different cities. We are both living in Taiwan and playing on the Western US server.

I understand that living over seas will affect latency. Just curious why lag spikes only are an issue when grouping.

Any help or answers are appreciated.

Keep up the great work. I love this game.

I am having the issue described by the OP. I play from Sofia, Bulgaria. Megalan is the ISP.
I'll give some examples: playing solo, when I am the Docks (all happens on merciless, if that matters at all), it starts in the afternoons, like after 3-4PM local time (GMT +2). My latency jumps to 400+, sometimes hitting 1000. When I change the zone to, let's say, Marketplace or Battlefront, ping goes down to 45, I go again to Docks, I got 400 again, I create a new instance of the Docks, I got 100. It is particularly nasty in party, last few times when I had such big latency, I asked the whole party, and all of the had similar high latency values, which tells me the issue is at the server side and not from my internet connection, since all players connected to that instance have big latency values.
Sometimes I have big latency at Lunaris Temple, floor 2 and 3, but not that frequently.
One of the latest events with such lag was that while playing I pulled like 5-6 mobs, and while chasing me they just went frozen in place, I was walking around them, but they were doing nothing, it was a nice bullet time moment. After 5-6 seconds they just unfroze and of course I was dead immediately.
I am having random high ping spikes on a daily basis, making hardcore very difficult to play.

Died 7 times due to this issue

Im using telenor ISP in stockholm
north norway signing in with all running smoothly spikes going up to .500 thats probably 1500 or 2500 or even higher spikes. felt like it started 1-3 days ago and after that running maps have been a suicide mission. mobs desynching all over the place, 1-20 sec without synch between comp and gameserver.

the spikes i can see from pushing F1 looks like

Spoiler

i am a complete noob when it comes to technical issues so i have no clue what is causing this.

EDIT:
ive been running a ping 8.8.8.8 -t in cmd and it seems that at the same time as i get ingame spike the request ping have been canselled so i guess that means its something wrong on my part or the internet provider or somewhere?

EDIT2:
After alot of troubleshooting and talking with isp it turns out to be the router messing up something. all fixed now with another setup =)
